It's more like ORANGE and black than RED and black, but not a huge deal. In fact, it's kinda like a neon orange, which is a plus because I ride at night almost daily. Anyway, I got this thing together in about 20 minutes, front brakes needed tuning (no big deal). Tires were way under-inflated, but I filled them up. Again, no big deal. Now, I don't think it was shipping or any defect, but the front wheel has a slight wobble. Probably my homie being heavy-handed bringing it to me. I'll get it straightened out at the bike shop. Huge downside to this bike is that it doesn't have the standard screw holes near the forks for attaching accessories. I was trying to put mudguards and a rear rack on this bike. The handlebars also sit a bit low with the proper seat height (I'm 6 feet tall). They're actually so low that I can't put a standard basket on the front. All of this is a bit problematic, as I do ride my bike to go shopping. This bike is light. Like, REALLY light. I carry it up and down two (rather tight) flights of stairs daily (I live in a 3rd floor apartment), and it's not exhausting at all. Best thing about this bike, though, is that it is SMOOTH! Where I'm at, the roads are torn up and poorly maintained. Lots of bumps, and I barely feel most of them while riding this bike. The suspension seems to be tuned just right, as it doesn't "bounce" when I pedal. Overall, I'm satisfied with this bike. The above mentioned issues are not gonna kill me, as I can just go to a bike shop that works miracles located near me. EDIT 11/22/2021: I meant to do this a while ago, but I gotta downgrade my rating a bit, as the chain broke 5 days after I received this bike. I mean, it was no huge deal for me, as I happened to be on my way to a bike shop for accessories anyway, but I have to put that out there. Also, this bike is... difficult to accesorize. If you were thinking about putting fenders or a rack on it, get a different bike. It doesn't have the standard screw holes, or even the very standard gear shifter protector on the back. I also found the handlebars to be too small for a standard bike basket from Walmart, despite every bike I've ever put a basket on (that's 4) having more than enough room above the front wheel. The bike shop in my area can work miracles, but I doubt it would be worth it for most of you reading this to get this bike if you plan to hook stuff up to it. Sure, you can put a headlight and tail light on this bike, but that's as far as most of you will get with accessories on this bike. After straightening the front rim (mentioned above), it has stayed straight for over a month at the time of this edit. So, I guess most of the parts are solid. Still, it's very smooth to ride, not hard to pedal, and still no bounce when I pedal, though the rear suspension spring has recently started squeaking. Also, the tires and brake pads are way tougher than I expected. They are essentially in pristine condition despite the fact that I ride about 10 miles per day with lots of hills, including one traffic light at the bottom of a hill that almost always turns red when I get close 😳 That is all for now. ... show more

So, surprisingly, the bix arrived in tact, with no damage, despite it being sent by USPS instead of UPS, which would have made sense, and not have made it easy to make an excuse for it to be too heavy to deliver, and have to go out of my way after work ro pick it up. That is not the worst of the experience. This is my kid's new bike, and despite there being no damage to the box, and it being treated with a "white glove" handling, Mongoose aka Pacific Cycles, QC department missed one, and of course I got that one, where some lazy employee, applied a decal in haste, jagged it up, and instead of pulling it off right away and grabbing another off the stack, just left it and let it go out the door this way. I understand it's a kid's bike, and it'll probably be jacked up in a week or two, but when you buy something brand new, you want and expect it to be perfect. My kid probably won't notice it from the excitement of getting a new bike, and then thinking she did it somewhere down the road, but "I" know, and it bothers me. I sent an email to the manufacturer, and we'll see if they care or respond, but I doubt I'll hear anything, or get a replacement decal. It's definitely not worth all the BS, after finishing the last 15% of the bike build, and gettinv everything perfectly adjusted, to disassemble and return to Amazon. I can't really comment on the bike in terms of what it would be like riding on rough trails. I bought as a street bike for the fat tires as I figured they would be more stable on the road. I like the bike as it is very attractive. I had a bit of a problem adjusting the brakes and one problem putting it together. As some folks noted in their review, the handlebars appear to be on backwards where the gear numbers are facing away from the rider. However, they just need to be rotated so the numbers face the rider (see page 45 of owner's manual.) They are probably put that way to protect the bike during shipment. In order to rotate them, if you squat down, you will see the hex nut located in the middle of the handlebars when you are facing the bike. The nut needs to be loosened with a 6mm hex tool. The factory tightened it so much I couldn't get it loosened in order to make the adjustment. The hex nut is round so you can't grab it with pliers, and I didn't want to strip the nut. I had the idea to cover my brake/gear wires with a towel to protect them...then blast the nut with my blow drier about an inch away on the hottest temp for about 20 seconds or so. It came right out so if you have the same problem, give this a try! ... show more

Very minimal and easy assembly, a little adjustment on gears and brakes, and its ready to ride. Love it! Its working very well for towing my Dog Trailer too. Excellent manual comes with it and very nicely boxed to protect the bike. I got the metallic blue which looks fantastic.
