Money for Couples by Ramit Sethi is an exceptional guide for anyone who wants to build a strong financial life as a couple. While there are principles in this book that I’m not yet ready to fully apply, it gives me something just as valuable: a clear roadmap for the future. What stood out to me most is that living a “rich life” is not about becoming a millionaire. It’s about making intentional decisions — spending generously on what truly brings you joy and cutting back on what doesn’t. That shift alone changed the way I see money. One of the most powerful ideas is reframing money conversations so they feel positive instead of stressful. The idea of having short, structured, and frequent conversations — even just 15–20 minutes — makes financial intimacy feel practical and achievable. I also appreciated learning about the four money types and the “invisible scripts” we all carry. It helped me realize that many money conflicts aren’t about math, but about psychology. The Conscious Spending Plan was another highlight for me. Instead of rigid budgeting, it creates space for fixed costs, savings, investments, and guilt-free spending. And the simple rule, “Don’t spend one penny to impress anyone,” is something I won’t forget. This book gave me clarity and direction. Even if I’m not fully living this way yet, I now see what’s possible. It encouraged me to think long term about the kind of life we want to build together and how our financial system can support that vision. This is a great read. Ramit takes a very empathetic approach to how one or couples find themselves in financial problems. He does a great job explaining how managing your finances can be challenging but rewarding too. How one doesn't have to count every penny or feel guilty for buying that coffee. I recommend it to anyone wanting to turn their finances from a problem to no worry and young adults just starting in the world of making money.

Dear All the Homo sapiens (humans) on Planet Earth: I am a former United States Army's Airborne Combat Medic/Healthcare Specialist and a a four-time combat veteran of Kosovo (one deployment), Iraq (one deployment), and Afghanistan (two deployments). I served in the Army's esteemed 173rd Airborne Brigade based in Italy and Germany with more MoH (the Medals of Honor) than any other similarly brigade sized military unit of the Armed Forces of the United States of America (22 MoH to be exact due to fighting the bloodiest battle of the Vietnam War: "The Battle of Dak To" on "Hill 875"), as well as, loosing the highest number of Paratroopers (via combat related injuries and deaths) and earning the most categories of valorous awards during the "Global War on Terror" in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have finally discovered the best personal finance guru in the entire Universe. The caring persona and superb communication of Ramit Sethi have always made me feel like I am his only client. Ramit's customer service has always gone above and beyond in reaching out to me for anything I have needed during his premium life-altering courses. His guidance has always made sure that my financial journey can, hopefully, one day pass the one million USD feat. I wish I can give Money For Couples seven stars. We got it from the local library and wanted our own copy to mark up. Definitely a good way to ease into a conversation that previously had us really stressed out as a couple. It's not just money. It's money as a tool for intimacy. How can we use money to bless each other? How can money be a source of unity and strengthen our bond? It's unlike any other money book. Certainly not a fix-all by any means. But I have to give 5 stars for approaching the conversation differently and for helping us stress less - though we absolutely still have high anxiety about talking money together.

Highly recommend this book for helping partners make intentional choices when spending—and saving!—their income. Ramit has a great style of writing that digs into the core psychology of why we may be making the decisions we do and how to plan for a future where income can be better applied to the areas that make life more meaningful. I also recommend his podcast, YouTube channel, and Netflix show!
