It's been many years since we had a baby in the house, and some family members are no longer able to step over the traditional, pressure mounted gates with the locking bar. This time we were going to need 2 gates that had walk-thru capability, with a good sturdy latch that will keep a very inquisitive toddler from opening them, but is still easy for arthritic hands to open and close. After looking at a lot of gates, watching a lot of installation videos, and reading a ton of reviews, I felt this gate would best suit our needs long-term. Because our doorway openings were slightly too wide for the smallest gate, we had to go with the next size up. Since I would ultimately need 2 gates, I wasn't keen on spending $55 a piece on them. I've always had great luck with Amazon Warehouse items, so I took a chance and ordered 1 gate to see if we really liked it. The first gate arrived and seemed defective. Parts didn't fit right, and some parts were missing, despite the "like-new" rating. I decided that overall we liked it enough to try to order a 2nd one from the Warehouse, because $28 a piece was a lot better than $55. The 2nd one was also "like new". When it arrived I realized the first one was the wrong brand gate in the package, so no wonder the parts didn't fit together properly. The 2nd one was also missing several parts, even after I pieced it together with parts from the first one. At this point I contacted Ciays Customer Service and explained this whole story, asking if they could send me the missing parts so I could keep the one gate. After multiple unhelpful and borderline rude emails, they told me to just send it back to Amazon, they couldn't help me with replacement parts. I decided to give it one more chance, because I really liked the gate. I DID tell the Customer Support folks at the manufacturer that I liked it and planned to buy another if I could get one that worked, but that didn't matter at all to them. The 3rd gate (also from the Amazon Warehouse, again "like new"), was nearly perfect, and so far meets our needs very well. I then ordered a 4th one from the Warehouse for the other doorway, which arrived in perfect condition. So far so good in that it keeps the baby where we want him, and he hasn't yet figured out how to open it, although I believe he is trying. For one gate we used the mounting cups to keep the bolts in place, but the other one so far we haven't used them. He hasn't been able to shove either one out of the doorway. Overall I think it's a good gate, we'll see in the long run how things go with them. I don't think they were worth paying over $50 each for, and having to buy 4 just to get 2 I could keep was a major hassle, but the price of around $30 each was a much better amount. ... show more

It took maybe 10 minutes to install this gate. We use it with our dogs and even when they're pretty energetic, they don't knock it over.

BUYERS PAY ATTENTION. THIS GATE HAS A BATTERY OPERATED “ALARM” AND IT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK CORRECTLY … I have 3 gates now, because I have dogs and cats and need fur baby zones. I guess I wasn’t paying close enough attention when ordered these last two, as I got ones with alarms and of course, I’m past the date I can return them. My rating of a 3 is because of the security feature that didn't work on mine and the seller has removed thier published facebook page, so that becomes suspecious to me. WHAT I LIKED: Easy to install the gate .. opened with 2 hand, just pull back and lift up WHAT I DO NOT LIKE: The security latch. First the battery cover has a screw, so you need a Phillips head screwdriver. The batteries that came with mine didn’t work, so I had find my spare AAA’s. Once you’ve opened the battery cover once, it then becomes difficult to open a second time and you cannot open the gate at all without batteries and the unit turned ON. Then when the gate is opened, the alarm goes off. We got it to work 1 time and 1 time only. After 45 minutes of fighting it, we removed it and now it’s just a regular gate. Which serves my purpose of being to zone fur babies. The seller no longer has an active facebook page, so I don’t know if they are still in business. ... show more

Working well so far, keeps the little dogs out of the office. The top latch must be pulled back and then you lift the gate to open it, a little confusing but easy to learn. Very sturdy and swings both ways.

Gate was purchased for puppy but has been used to also contain infant. After using for a month here are my comments: -Features: Gate swings both ways (inside and outside depending on orientation), has an auto-close function for gate opening less than 90 degrees, and has a stay-open function built-in for past 90 degrees of the gate opening. Features are very useful for high traffic hallways and pets/people. -Opening Gate: After a few uses, it is intuitive to unlatch the gate by using slider AND lifting the entire gate to release it. -Install: Was relatively quick, although needing to pinch and rotate small plastic knobs to pressure-fit the gate against walls was a little challenging. All four knobs at each corner of the gate need to be adjusted individually but allows for baseboards. -Alarm: Did not activate the alarm but relative who purchased the exact same gate noted that it was very loud. Since installing the gate and protection pads can take a while, I can see the use of having many of these gates around the house for kids and pets. Great product - five stars ***** ... show more
