    • The Most Perfect Rugs Ever, Esp. for High-Traffic Areas

I am a big fan of Mohawk's nylon rugs with latex backing. I found one while browsing through Kohl's decades ago, and they are now the only rugs I will use in high-traffic areas. The colors are vivid, the design beautiful, the color never fades, and the latex backing provides protection for my hardwood floors as well as slip resistance. The low pile means I can easily place the rug in front of a door. The best news: although Mohawk does not recommend machine washing, I do it all the time! I vacuum first, then use the gentle cycle and cold water, and I am careful to balance the load. The rugs come out so clean, it is as if you bought a brand new rug! The rug is so fresh! Over time, the latex backing will disintegrate (especially if you put the rug in the dryer, which is not always necessary), and you will need to replace the rug. I have successfully machine washed the runner size, the more or less 2 by 3 size, and, of course, this small size. For durability, beauty, and value, nothing beats these rugs, and they have all sorts of useful applications. For example, I use a small one in front of the cat litter box. It catches the litter, protects the floor against accidents, and is so easily washed. I have been experimenting with other rugs materials throughout my house, and wool is nice, of course, but if you have serious allergies and hardwood floors, you might consider using only these rugs. Wool area rugs have to be professionally cleaned to come close to the machine washing of the Mohawk nylon, and that is time-consuming and expensive. I have also tried cotton rugs, viscose, etc., and I keep coming back to the Mohawk nylon with latex backing. The latex backing is also easy on the hardwood floors. The Mohawks are made here in the U.S., and no import comes close to them in terms of construction, beauty, and value. I examine area rugs all the time when browsing the stores to look at construction and design. I can state with a high degree of certainty no other nylon rug comes close. ... show more

Using this rug under a tan-colored, u-shaped couch in the living room and on top of a beige carpet. It has rich, muted colors and lovely, unique patterns. It has a cool, 'Old World' appearance. I wondered if mine had been used and returned though, as when I unrolled it to check it out, it looked like there were a couple of dirty spots on the rug?, not too noticeable, but turning it over to have a look at the underside I saw what looked like some dust and a big ol' clearly defined waffle-boot print where someone had stepped. Ugh. I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it and waiting for another after the first one I ordered got lost in transit, so keeping it. When I first moved into my new 'ME' space as a late boomer, I made the mistake of thinking that that meant moving into a one bedroom place with beige and olive green! After a year I realized that this was depressing me especially during this pandemic. So through Amazon I saw different ways to perk up my space, and this rug in front of my sofa, for which I've had to purchase a new throw cover in various colors, is perfect! We don't have to die just because some of the world is dying. I don't worship anything but our creator, but I have to say thank you Amazon. I love these rugs. We have 4. Front door mat, hall runner, desk chair mat and area rug. Color holds well and rugs clean easily. Non slip backing is great also.

I really like the colors, being that they can fit any palette. The backing truly is non-skid, and the size is suitable for what I needed. My only issue was that if I knew it would be this nice, I would've ordered a bigger size.
