Style: 1/2 Inch Dual Surface Rug Pad Size: 4' x 6'
I had purchased a 4x6 faux fur rug. It was wonderfully fuzzy, but had absolutely no padding, and the smooth backing was slippery as ice. I tried a different anti slip pad first, but the rug kept slipping off the pad. This pad solves all the problems. It is exactly 4 x 6 feet. It is just shy of a half inch thick. ( I was going to get the 3/8 inch, but for the price, I decided to upgrade. I’m glad I did. It’s good padding, but I think anything less wouldn’t be adequate.) The 1/2 inch padding is thick enough to make it comfortable to sit or kneel on the floor. (Anyone can stand on these, but if old knees are comfortable, you know it’s good.) What’s really amazing is that—as advertised—the bottom surface holds fast to my laminate floor and the top surface holds the rug safely in place. The rug itself has uneven edges (it’s supposed to look like a fur rug) so I’m going to eventually trim the pad to more evenly match the rug. Previous reviews suggested that it is easy to trim. If I have any problems, I’ll update this review. Otherwise, I’ll say—especially from someone who had been shopping for a good pad for a while—this is an excellent non-slip pad and is excellent quality for the price. Edited later to add: Well, I came back to add an update, but I never actually posted this review. So, I’ll just add and post. Several weeks later and I’m still very happy with this pad. But I did want to add a note about trimming it. As mentioned above, the rug I have on top of the mat is not an exact 4x6. I needed to trim about an inch off the length and an inch off the width of the pad to make it fit underneath the rug perfectly. But it was not easy! I tried every kind of scissors I had in the house. A box cutter just shredded it. Finally, my guy came around with some industrial scissors (they looked like tin snips, but I don’t think that’s what they were) and his much stronger hands than mine, and he was able to make a nice, neat trim. With the right tool and the right user, the mat trims nicely with no fraying. I’m going to guess, when they show the picture of the mat being cut with regular scissors, it’d probably the thinner version and not the 1/2 inch. Still, very happy with this product! ... show more

I’m very happy with this rug pad. I bought a vintage area rug which is thin and needed a rug pad. It wasn’t an exact fit and I was able to cut it perfectly. I used a razor cutter with a piece of wood underneath and a level to get it perfectly matched to my area rug. I like that the bottom adheres to my wood floors so it doesn’t move; it has a gripper bottom. Adds softness to the rug also. ... show more

The pad is decent. I got the 1/4 thickness, it gives just a little but of padding but much better than rug direct on hardwood. It is great to stop the rug from slipping around, the felt grips the rug and the rubber backing keeps it well on my wood flooring. Only thing I did not like is that the cut of the pad was not good. One side had a fully jagged cut, others werent straight. I didnt measure but it was bigger than the rug i got in the same size of 6 foot by 9 foot. Not a huge deal since you are supposed to cut off a few inches from length and width so that the rug has some overhang to give a flat edge. I have woven several rugs for our hardwood floors and always had a problem with them sliding across the floor (a bit dangerous). I've use a cheap type of non-slip rug pad but they tended to fall apart after not very long. The Mohawk Home Non Slip Rug Pad Gripper 1/4 Thick Dual Surface Felt + Rubber Gripper provides a bit of cushion and stays where you put it. I like that I was able to cut it to the perfect size for my handwoven rugs. One side is felted wool and the other side is rubberized so if you have hardwood floors you put the rubberized side down and if you have carpet you put the wool side down. Some people complained of a terrible chemical smell. I did notice that when I first opened the packaging and especially when I laid it out in the sun to get the fold wrinkles out (it comes folded for shipping). But once I got it installed under the rugs the odor dissipated and I didn't notice it anymore. I would recommend this product. ... show more

These were perfect and easily cut to fit carpet size. Feel and look like they would last a lifetime. Doesn't have the same gripping a rubbery type, but between the thickness of the rugs and density of this pad they don't move but if you want to move them they are easier to deal with than the rubbery kind on our LVT floors. ... show more

Our mat was a little bigger than our 8’x10’ rug (I’m not sure of the mat was bigger or our rug was smaller than 8’x10’) which gave us some room to trim the mat. Our rug doesn’t slip on it, and the mat grips our hard floor. Our rug is well cushioned now. The mat itself is durable.

The mat was as thick as promised with no signs of poor manufacturing or damage. Easy to put in place and the rug overlayed it such that no trimming was required. We detected no smell. The rug is textured and thick so I couldn't feel any difference with the mat under it on the first day but I assume the mat expanded such that it did feel softer the next day.
