I have tried several different types of knee braces. Previously purchased two types of braces that wrapped around the knee and fastened with Velcro fasteners in the front, had side supports and a opening to support the knee. While both of these worked well, I could only wear them for two or three days before my knees started hurting. I purchased these Modvel knee braces and have been wearing them comfortably for over a week. Be sure to verify your measurements. I purchased a pair that turned out to be too tight. I returned them and purchased the next size up. These fit great. I am 78 years old. Fairly well developed legs with the exception of bad knees, arthritis, bone on bone and torn meniscus. As I said, I wear them all day. I’m able to walk fairly long distances without too much discomfort. Hopefully that will Cary over to my golf game. They do not slide down my legs nor do they fold over or roll down as some have complained about. The price seems reasonable compared to the previous knee braces that I purchased which I paid between $45.00 and $60.00 for each pair. On Amazon the Modvel braces are priced between $18 and $24.00 for a pair and I can’t seem to figure out what the difference is. Anyway, they seem to work. ... show more

Update: Turns out the latex is one of the materials in this and seems to be irritating my skin. Otherwise this is the best knee brace I have ever had. I have been having alot of trouble with my knees lately because I am 65 and work 40 hours a week on concrete floors for the last 9 years. I ordered this because of the good reviews. I put it on this morning and just got home from 8 hours on my feet. It didn't slip like most all of the braces I have purchased at the stores. My knee actually felt normal. It is comfortable where I almost didn't know I had it on. Usually I am miserable immediatley with all the others. I was so amazed at how great this is I came and got online right away write a review. I measured 4 inches up from my knee and it fits perfectly. I did wash it in cold water and dried it on medium heat because I don't like to wear anything without washing it. If your knees are bothering you, this is the right one to get. I have been using it for a while and it seem to really help me now it is also very comfortable. Just make sure you order the right size and take measurements before ordering. In my opinion, you will not be disappointed, also another thing I will recommend that you make sure you are wearing a sonics. Injured my knee this winter. It was one I had surgery on 25 years ago. It was badly sprained, but not torn. It was slow healing and my old knee supports were getting worn, thick and uncomfortable. I have been wearing it most of the day and it has helped my knee pain tremendously. I measured 4" up as suggested. My leg measured 17" so I went with the large and it's very comfortable. I will agree with others about the Modvel tag placement, they need tk remove it or label it another way, it's a bit scratchy. After I put it on I drop that area just a little so it does not bother me. Also, I do agree with other reviewers, the advertised picture makes it look longer than it actually is. I have arthritis in both knees, and tend to go for the braces with metal hinges, but they are so uncomfortable I don't wind up wearing them very much. I bought these thinking sort of "meh, it's better than nothing and it's cheap", but I was VERY happy with the quality. Although they are not as sturdy as the metal hinge type of brace, they are surprisingly sturdy, and they are so comfortable they actually feel "good" just with the compression. They can be a little uncomfortable for wearing all day, but that is 12 hours or so. I wouldn't wear any other brace for that amount of time. And, you get TWO of them basically for the price of one.
