This magnetic knife bar is great. It's easy to install....drill two holes, push anchors in and screw back plate to the wall. I had to try three times to get the magnetic bar on straight....it's extremely strong and when you get within a couple of inches to the back plate it snaps on, so line it up carefully as you bring it up to place it. It's classy, works great and holds all of my knives. I highly recommend this product. ... show more

Took forever to get here, and the box was badly damaged, retaped, and even a couple plastic bands put around it. The knife holder itself was not damaged at all, and everything was in good shape. I cleaned the side of my fridge with alcohol, stuck the adhesive strip on the back of the holder, and leveled it before sticking it to the fridge. I pressed it on good, and it's a clean sturdy adhesion without wiggle or play. I loaded it up with knives big and small, a couple utensils and a large knife sharpening steel. It holds everything really nice! The magnet is strong from end to end. The wood itself is sleek, smooth and prevents any dulling of the blades. I honestly couldn't ask for more. The price was good, the quality is really great, it looks awesome against the black side of my fridge. It performs perfectly, and it's definitely stuck solid to the fridge. My blades are up off the counter, aren't getting banged around in a drawer, and nothing to dull the edges! My blades are happy and so am I!!! ... show more

I may not need the third, however, the bars save so much space in your kitchen and adds a touch of chef to your cooking area! Lovely and would order again! 4 stars, why? There is always room for improvement somewhere. That said, this works very well, it is sleek looking and very sturdy. Would prefer the choice of a 20" (this 18" measured, for me, at 17.6" and not the full18"). for us pretend-to-be chefs. Also, for those who would rather secure it to the wall in other ways than without screws, it's probably a bad idea as this thing is very strong magnetically. Price is a 5, for me. Attaching was very easy (situate 1 side, mark the hole, drill, set the anchor then attach the back plate loosely to the wall, level, mark the 2nd hole, drill and set the anchor, position the back plate over the drilled hole and attach with the screw. Tighten both screws to the wall, THEN - to protect your delicate fingers from getting pinched by the main magnetic holder, angle the bottom downward and line up with each corner - the slowly fold up to meet both corners evenly. Too quickly and you may result in the holder not lining up and fitting correctly - AND pinching your fingers!). Easy P Z. Enjoy! UPDATE: Works very, very well. STRONG magnets. I recently bought some expensive Damascus Steel knives and have been looking for a way to show them off and this is it. The bad first. The mounting hardware provided was garbage. The drywall anchors just folded as I gently tapped them in. Luckily I have a number of drywall anchors on hand and they're cheap enough at Home Depot/Mendards/whatever hardware store you use. With suitable hardware installation is incredibly simple - just 2 anchors and screws into the drywall with a screw driver and you're done. I would recommend using a level. It's interesting to see reviews both that the magnet is too strong and also not strong enough, but I can somehow see it both ways? It's plenty strong, even enough to hold my knives in the protective sleeves they shipped in, but I noticed that if I don't attach them in a thicker part of the knife the magnet isn't necessarily strong enough to hold them exactly in place and will not stop them from rotating a bit on their own. That said, it's strong enough to pull your knives from about a half inch away and can induce a significant impact with your knife to the magnets surface which presents an opportunity to damage the blade. Be sure to place the knife's spine first and be firm when mounting it to reduce any "snap" to the magnet. It mounts pretty close to the wall, as it should, and I would not recommend any larger or smaller of a profile, but when placing or removing the knife it's possible that your fingers could get sandwiched with the wall or if there's too much of an angle your blade can easily hit the wall. Lastly, with it being metal there's an obvious potential to scratch your knives. I personally don't care that much becuase to me it shows use and standard wear (there are many things that can scratch a blade) but also I usually can't find scratches on a knife unless I'm looking for them and the light is hitting them correctly. Overall it's a great product for what it's supposed to do and is beautiful, strong and sturdy. Theres definitely a learning curve to the product vs a traditional knife block, but we buy beautiful and expensive knives and this is an excellent way to show them off and let them be a part of your kitchen. I was nervous but this is excellent. It holds all my knives. I used the enclosed hardware and attached it to my cabinet with a sliding door. The magnet is very strong. Even with slamming the door there is no jiggle or budge of the knives or block.

It took me FOREVER find one of these that actually worked! It was a double-sided magnet as advertised, so I was able to put it on the side of my fridge. Be careful when installing this way because the magnet is STRONG, so you may pinch your fingers. I imagine it may also scratch your fridge if you try to adjust the placement once attached. It's very sturdy, looks great, and holds the knives in place perfectly. It takes a bit of effort to remove them, so no knives falling down over here! I chose the chrome finish, and it looks great on my black fridge and doesn't take away from the appearance of the knives themselves. ... show more
