I already had a farmhouse-style light for over the dining table, but there was something about this design that caught my eye. No, it isn't exactly farmhouse, but my wife kept saying how stodgy and old-fashioned everything I chose looked. She likes more modern styling, without going overboard for this particular house. Some of her other houses she has built are way too modern for my liking. One thing that makes it a little different is in going with my chosen black/gold design I have used in several places in the house, the gold is not the old shiny brass-look, but more a textured matte gold. I suggested I do what I often do with many a fixture, which is to take automotive spray paint and give it a look of its own. She likes the combination of black and gold so I might have to save that option for later. But it does not have the look that went out of style several years ago of cheap, shiny brass. And the curving black arms are more of a matte black and appear to be nicely powder coated, although it is listed as lacquered. Regardless, the finish job overall is good quality. This does have limited light output, which is a slight negative to me. Over a dining table four candelabra bulbs is a little short on light output for my liking. This would be great for use in a front entry, however. I would have made it at least five lights for dining rooms. But there are ample recessed lights in the room, so I guess things should work out. Otherwise this is a very standard pendant light setup, and is not a heavyweight requiring a ceiling electrical box for heavy chandeliers or ceiling fans. There is something about this light that I find gives it character without being gaudy. The price isn't exactly cheap but I see there currently is a 10% off coupon, making it a bit more reasonable. But then all building supplies have gone crazy in the last few years, so it likely is a fair price for present-day conditions. I do like the quality and it is well packed for shipping and arrived in good condition.

this is a really nice light fixture. would give it 5 stars but I had to redrill some holes and it takes about an hour to assemble.

Just get comfortable - lay out all the parts on your living room floor (with the instructions) and take your time putting it together. The result will be a well-made chandelier that looks great - especially in those hard to fill "stairways". This chandelier fits great in my newly constructed home, where I have a narrow stairway mounted along a wall going upstairs which needs lighting for the stairway as well as projecting sufficient lighting out to the living room area. All this is what guests first see when they enter the double-front doors. The black /gold fits any décor - for my newly constructed home - all "real" wood /clear-coated floors and stairway makes it a hit!!! Makes me look far-richer than I am (not). Lighting projection is not too bright and not too dull - but if you can't make up your mind - install a dimmer.

so the design is just GORGEOUS. I really fell in love based on the pictures. and I did learn something having received it: some light fixtures come unassembled. that was a new one on me. I've purchased almost entirely new fixtures for my entire house, but this was the first one that I had to put together like flat pack furniture. HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: * the instructions are crap. you won't figure it out by looking. there's an assembly vid about 2 min. it's marginally better. * even though you have to assemble a bunch of it, you also have to UNASSEMBLE a bunch of it. what that's about, I don't even know. the wrought iron frame is made up of 10 rods that are shaped like of like a question mark without the dot. at the end of each are hardware. in order to assemble, you have to take the top and bottom apart, then remove the hardware from the rods, THEN start assembling. I mean, they could have just put the hardware in a bag, but no--let's make it even HARDER. * based on the fact that I refer to it as "flat pack", you've probably figured out that I've assembled my fair share of Megamart crap furniture. I'm not a noobie. I know what I'm doing. so when I say it took me an hour...yeah. ACTUAL TIPS FOR ASSEMBLY: * take stuff out on a large, flat area to work. I made the mistake of trying to assemble on my couch. ...don't. * remove all the screws and all the bolts from the wrought iron bars FIRST. just make a pile of bolts, a pile of screws, and a pile of washers. you won't mix 'em up. I promise. * there's a top plate to affix them and a bottom plate to affix them. on each plate, there are 10 holes in an alternating small-large-small-large pattern. the large holes are for the bolts. the small holes are for the screws. * in order to get the pictured pattern, you'll need to assemble them every other like this : ¿ ? ¿ ? ¿ ? ¿ ? ¿ ? (again--without the dots) * put 3 or 4 on the top plate first, then start adding to the bottom plate. it's quite flexible and annoyingly floppy otherwise. * once you start adding to both plates, it's a tight squeeze. start by putting the bolt end (threads) in first. then the screw in (hole) end is easy to work with. * don't try to make the hardware tight until you've got all 20 connections done. give yourself a bit of wiggle room. OVERALL, I really do like the design of this light fixture. I'm excited to get it up and see it hang in my entryway. had I known it would take me an hour to put it together, I might have gotten a different one. the design is 5 stars. the crappy directions are -1 star and the DISASSEMBLY so we're for sure at 3 stars. if I have trouble installing it, this review will definitely be updated. good luck.

If you want your home to be decorated in a style that is less cookie cutter, matches all your neighbors trending decor pieces, then this pendant light fixture is an excellent choice. I adore the unique style of this light. It really draws the eye as a focal point in whichever room it is hanging in. It can blend with different decor themes, like contemporary modern, industrial, or Hollywood regency, even. It arrived packaged very neatly and securely, and the fixture comes with detailed assembly and installation instructions, along with all the hardware needed to get the job done. I really love the black and gold color theme that has been gaining popularity in interior design recently, so this light fit right in for my home. I especially like the look of the chain it hangs from, too. It is a sturdy, durable fixture that looks amazing in any space.
