Replaced a 39 year old Bosch Aquastar with this one , could not find parts any longer. Had to buy new fittings as the old one had 3/8 connections for the propane and water. Total install time 1 hour. Heater works well and supply enough water for a family of two. It is much smaller than the Aquaster saving space in utility room. Will see how it performs and works in the long run. Bought my first ~4 GPM Bosch tankless 22 years ago and added a second one a few years later to heat water for the laundry only. Those 2 were perfectly adequate for a 2 bath home. After the first unit died, I had trouble finding a new one that didn't require changing the venting. Most are either direct vent or high efficiency dual PVC. I have a 6 in flue from basement to roof. Based on the ratings, I picked the Mizudo. I was skeptical because of the price and physical size of the Mizudo, which is much smaller and lighter than the old Bosch. But it heats water as well as the older Bosch. It dies take a little longer to get up to temperature, but once it gets there it holds well. 4 stars only because I need time to judge the durability. Also if you're using a standard flexible gas line made for water heaters, you'll need to buy an adapter, since the gas hookup is just standard 3/4 threaded pipe, not the nipple that most water heaters are furnished with. ... show more

Update: I was aggravated that the appliance arrived without installation instructions and it was doubled down when I couldn't find them on line. The vendor reached out right away and sent me a PDF. I am an HVAC contractor and really only needed to answer questions about venting. I found everything else- controls and installation- extremely intuitive. I have installed many of the major brands over the years and spent hours on set up after install. This model is literally "plug and play". Turn it on and dial up or down. The only reason someone might be dissatisfied is if they try to do their whole house (which this model clearly isn't indicated for). Thanks for your quick support and quality product! ... show more

Works great for replacing a standard 40 gallon water heater. The only drawback I see with it is it has a delay when heating water. So your dishwasher or clothes washer may not get hot water in the first cycle. I just run some hot water before running either of them and avoids washing things in cold water.
