Description

"Mityvac is a brand of automotive diagnostic and service repair tools since 1971. Beginning with the design and patent of a single hand-held vacuum pump intended for medical applications, its uses broadened to include automotive diagnostics and service as well as industrial and consumer applications. Mityvac fluid evacuators are ideal for removing fluids from small tanks and reservoirs. These units are lightweight and portable and include integrated reservoirs with capacities ranging from 1.9 qt. (1.8 l) to 2.3 gal. (8.8 l). Applications include evacuating engine oil, coolants, transaxle grease and power steering, transmission and brake fluid from automobiles, motorcycles, small engines, boat motors, RVs, ATVs and machinery. The MV7300 operates on compressed air to create a powerful venturi vacuum for draining fluids from tanks and reservoirs. Compressed air hose attaches at base for stability. Includes accessories for draining engine oil or transmission fluid directly through the dipstick tubes. Also includes brake/clutch bleeding kit (Model MVA7205) for vacuum bleeding hydraulic brake and clutch systems. Mityvac offers the products and systems you need for any brake and clutch bleeding application, air induction cleaning and compression testing, cooling system evacuation or refill application, for fluid handling and diagnostic applications."

  • Outstanding - I should have bought this years ago
We used the Mityvac for the first time today to change the oil on my son's Mercedes C240. In short, the Mityvac worked extremely well, drawing out 8 quarts of warm oil in about 8-9 minutes [a guess - next time I'll time it]. [Hint: the instructions are not very helpful - it would pay a new user to check a few YouTube videos for this unit] It was also easy to dispense the old oil into empty oil jugs for recycling. The pour spout makes it a lot easier to hit the funnel! The siphon hoses take a little clean up, but nothing compared to using a drain pan and assorted funnels. The real benefit besides the basic functionality was NOT having to put the car on ramps or use a jack. It was also unnecessary to remove the shielding panels underneath to get at the drain plug, because it stays put. [On this car, the oil filter is top-mounted] A lot of effort and time saved. The Mityvac is money well spent. ... show more

  • Bad Suction? Works good if you...
WORKS GOOD IF... If you redo the extractor hose valve thread sealing! The MV7300 had poor to average suction using a 3 hp 13 gallon compressor until I realized it was sucking air through the extractor hose valve. One side of the valve had no sealing and the other side had one wrap of tape. Both leaked badly. Also one of the plastic tube quick connects to the same valve was poorly seated (it's a cheap "sharkbite" knockoff connection). Before sealing the valve connection the fluid being extracted was at least half air. The advertised feature of pulling a vacuum on the tank and making it portable by valving off the input vacuum and then disconnecting the compressor does work but only after suction leaks are repaired. ... show more

  • Hands down the easiest oil change I've ever done
It's amazing I can suck the oil out the top, take the filter out the top, and add oil and I never even had to lift the car!

  • Worth Every Penny - Superior Alternative To Drain & Fill Method
I sat on this Mityvac for 3 month before using it for the first time today as both my Acura & Chevy Silverado 3500 are due for engine, A/T fluid change. First of all I want say "Thank You" to those provided product review on this Mityvac-7300, your feedback lead me to a purchase that I know will save me money & headaches many times over. I had to spend $370 for dealer to replace the oil pan on my Acura TL last year because the dealer mechanic stripped the thread. Worst of all they claimed these happen quite often because the pan is made out of aluminum to save weight & provides better heat dissipation etc. etc. etc... 6 month later my Chevy truck developed an oil leak from drain plug; needless to say it's caused by stripped threads. I took a leap of faith & had the drain plug bolt "welded" to the pan & stopped the leak for good so I now rely on this Mityvac exlusively for oil changes. Design: Comes w/ 3 tubes which are slightly "short" to be fully functional on their own, but the male-end can be inserted to the female-end, so you can combine all 3 tubes together & form a 15 feet suction tube. So the alleged disfunctional short tubing issue is a very easy fix. I do wish that it came with a compressor hose adatpor where you can just plug in the hose straight into the bottom, but that's a minor inconvenience, just go buy a $12 compressor hose kit from Walmart & problem solved. Operation: Instruction manual is worthless but thanks to a straight forward design, it's a no brainer to figure things out by looking at the picture on the box. Took me less than 3 min to pump out 3 qts of AT fluid & 6 min to pump out 5 qts of engine oil out of my Acura. The Silverado took about 8 min for 7 qts of engine oil & 10 min for over 10 qts of A/T fluid because I combined all 3 tubes together & consequently created more resistance on the suction. After all fluids are extracted, I simply reach under the hood to unscrew oil filters & screw on a new one. Wow!! No Mess.. Tips: (1) Finding the bottom can be slightly tricky as you don't know whether the end of tube touched bottom or not, even if you feel resistance it could mean the tube is just pressing against something. Best practice is "line-up" the tube next to the "dip stick", mark the tube with a Sharpie so the marking indicates the exact length of your dip stick; this way you'll know exactly when the tube hits the bottom which will give you maximum fluid extraction. (2) Work when the car is warm & preferrably hot. Fluid flows much better & you'll get a much better extraction. Monetary benefit: So far I have saved myself 2 trips to dealers for the following: (1) Acura engine oil/filter change & A/T fluid change. (2) Chevy Silverado engine/filter change + A/T fluid change. My material cost for 2 filters, 12 qts of synthetic oil, 10 qts of Dexron III A/T fluid amounts to about $150. Had I gone to the dealers, my bills would have gone over $400. Not to mention risking someone over tightening the drainage bolt & ruining another oil pan.. I know there are some other fringe benefits of going to a dealer for routine maintenance such as car washes & tire rotations etc. I do my tire rotation at Costco & car wash at home with my pressure washer (quite fun, actually). Conclusion: You be the judge, if you are just borderline mechanically inclined like myself & thought about saving some money on maintenance, you definately should give this Mityvac a try. This has been the best investment I've made on automotive needs so far and I plan on using it for my lawn mower, motorcycle etc. ... show more

  • Works great, with a few flaws
I used it to change the oil in my Merc E450. Works great in general. Pumped out almost 7 liters of oil in about 10 minutes using 100 psi pressure. Your oil HAS to be at operating temp, not only so it will pump, but so it will drain properly in your car. So, why only 4 stars? The various hoses connect with basically rubber stoppers, and they are terrible. Very likely to just come apart at a bad time. Throw the coupling ones out, use some slightly oversized tubing to couple with some pipe clamps. Problem solved. Another minor complaint, there is no shut-off valve for your compressor feed. The valve is just to allow the suction bit to work. Again, easy to add an inline shutoff valve for a few bucks. But, these things should have been done by the manufacturer. Aside from that, the tank is sturdy, the vacuum venturi is reasonably quiet and provides plenty of suction. No more having to put cars on a lift, take off body panels, etc. Wonderful. ... show more
