I am a believer in this product and will be ordering more. I’m fairly new to woodworking. I used this product on the first two pictures below (the nightstands and the entry way table). After the pre-stain dried, the stain went on like butter. Minimal splotchiness, and so easy to apply. I DIDN’T use it on the farmhouse-style dining room table because the stain I used advertised that no conditioner was needed. The stain was splotchy and took a lot of time to work out and correct. I wound up going through an entire quart on this one table, and I firmly believe it’s because I didn’t condition the wood first. Do note that you need to allow sufficient time for this product to dry before applying stain. I live in a humid environment and complete my projects outside, so it actually took about 90 minutes to fully dry. Overall, solid product at a fair price. Recommend! ... show more

I needed to refinish a maple guitar neck with a vintage stain, and the stain wasn't take evenly. I sanded it back to bare wood again and tried this product. The directions were easy to follow, and the product was easy to use. When I applied the stain afterwards, it was far better. It also needed fewer applications of stain to get to the correct shade. The stain also seemed to remain the same color when dry as when it was wet - usually it lightens a bit. I used water based dye stain. ... show more

I did not notice any difference applying this conditioner and not applying it to same material. Assumed it would correct some discoloration, but again no different applying this or no. I could not recommend this product for its intent purposes

It works nicely, but mine didn't survive shipping too well. About 1/3 had leaked all over the box, it was a mess. Despite that, enough was left to finish my project. The stain went on evenly over this pre-stain, everything was easy to apply.
