Positive Points 1. Variable Speed Control. The main reason I purchased this instead of the less expensive 5 speed Endura 40 is because of the variable speed motor. The ability to troll at the precise speed the situation calls for has proven to be well worth the extra cost. 2. Digital Maximizer. Initially I was skeptical about the manufacturer's claim that the motor would run longer by conserving battery power. After some windy days at the lake, I found that the motor will operate for a full 10 hour day and still have half the initial charge power in reserve. As a result, I no longer need to take a second back up battery for high speed operation late in the day. Negative Point Push to Test Battery Meter. What can i say? Minn kota is the best of the best. I have a 29 series battery i use with this to power my 12 ft inflatable boat. This motor seriously uses no battery power. I took my boat out 3 times and still had 4/6 bars of battery life yet on 1 charge (according to the meter on the minn kota power center battery box which i also recommend) ... show more

It's a great motor, works as advertised. Only problem is, the motor I recieved is a #1352240 5 speed . I ordered the #1352140 variable speed version. Maybe you can explain why this happened?

    • Best and Most Versitile Trolling Motor
Great trolling motor. I use it all day on one small 36 amp-hour AGC battery and I can recharge to full charge overnight with a 1.1 amp trickle charger. The best features are: very efficient running with low battery draw; the battery meter that will show you the condition of your battery; infinitely variable speed control (I can run it slow enough to watch the prop turn and still see both blades. It has more than enough thrust to control a large flat-bottom boat in a strong gusty wind. I have not had to use more than 50% of the 40 lb thrust in those conditions. Most of the time i use around 20% to 30% for trolling flies. ... show more

Great little trolling motor; my 16.5' canoe really scoots when I have this thing going full throttle. It really does a great job of conserving battery power too - I haven't run out of juice with it yet. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I feel the mounting mechanism could be a bit more sturdy / stable. ... show more

Got it for my 10 foot Oswego kick boat by classicaccsessories and works great. Run time is a lot better then the regular endura c 40# got up to 5 mph with wind at my back. No wind got to 3 mph at top speed.the way it pulses makes it weed free! The regular endura got tangled in weeds but not the endura max came out clean. The negative of the pulse Energy save is that you can't run your viewfinder on same battery. 4ah more then enough to run fishfinder. I am saving up to replace my other regular endura c 40#, with endura max 40#!!!! ... show more

    • Great motor
Very excited to have this. Hope it really does extend my time on the water. Mounted on an Intex Excursion 4 nicely using the Intex motor mount. Tiller turns easily and stays at the setting you desire. Like the extending handle too. I don't think you can go wrong with Minn Kota.
