TLDR: I did a ton of research and if you're concerned about this filter not matching the standards of other filters on the market, this is top of its class and competes with most filters that cost nearly double. For under 50 bucks, and cheap filter/less frequent replacements due to the pre-filter, it's an incredible value. This filter is a lot more robust than the pictures give credit for. The design is very well thought out and having a pre-filter should be way more common on shower filters (very few on Amazon have a pre-filter.) The pre-filters are priced very reasonably and the filter itself also comes in at an incredible value. I did way more research on the variations of filters and certifications for shower filters than anyone should ever have to do, but I have high confidence in the materials within the filter to filter unwanted minerals/ chemicals in shower water without lowering the pressure. I definitely can tell a difference with my reasonably chlorinated and modestly hard suburban water, so you're likely to see a difference too, especially if you have particularly bad water. The majority of the credit goes to that cotton pre filter, which dramatically increases the life of the main filter by grabbing the heaviest particles before they clog up the main filter which is doing all the chemical reversing. The only thing that I would change is for this filter to acquire it NSF certification which is typically the standard certification for shower filters and helps compare. (Especially if it qualifies for NSF 53,177, 372, and 472, which I have full confidence that it would based on certification data on the product's website.) Also, I highly recommend that the seller change the names for the replacement filter listings. They're unnecessarily confusing as to what you're buying. The listing name should be either "cotton filter" or "carbon/main filter" instead of "z replacement" which really doesn't help us customers figure out what exactly we're getting when we buy replacements. The carbon filter lasted 4 months before the water flow decreased. It did do the job of cleaning the water. I noticed the cotton filter was yellow. This filter gave me an ear infection twice! Maybe something grew in the filter? I'm better now since replacing it. The only downside is that the filters are expensive & you can't buy the carbon filter separately. I purchased this because the water, at the place that I am renting started having a very odd odor. It became stronger, especially with the hot water. It doesn’t smell like the typical rotten egg smell. I don’t really know what to compare it to, but it isn’t pleasant. I told my landlord about, but he claims not to know what it is and why it smells. I’m on well water. Maybe a new water softener or a coil replacement would fix it, but he’s not eager to fix it. I felt uncomfortable trying to take a shower. So I did my research and found this. It’s been a little over 4 months since installing it. As soon as I did and took my first shower, the odor was completely gone while the shower head was in use. The odor is still present without it. But the photo attached is proof enough for me. I recommend this to renters who’s having similar issues. I would like to get something for under the kitchen sink too. Does what it advertises but could be better as I still see very minimal calcium build up on my shower head but it does filter out most of the gunk as shown in the picture. I bought this back in March 20th 2023 and just replaced it on June 20th 2023.

Update customer service got back to me with a refund. Worked great day 1 after about 11 days water pressure started to get less. Contacted support as the post card they included says and haven't heard anything back.
