  • I have only had it a few days - So far, So Good
Size: UM890 Pro(32+1T)
UM890 Pro (32Gb & 1 TB SSD). After a few days it seems solid and robust. My biggest issue is using Win 11 rather than Win 10 (old PC). I seem to have everything set up properly and am happy with the outcome. I was concerned about review of instability, etc on Amazon. However when I looked more closely, near all negative reviews were for different machines with other CPU's, GPU's. So I went into this with some trepidations, since I only have moderate tech experience. So far, so good. ... show more

  • not cheap, but performance is good!
Size: UM890 Pro(32+1T)
I think it could have been a bit cheaper. I can confirm I can run three 4k displays @60Hz. The USB4 ports support 4k/60hz. The Display Port does, too. I could not get the HDMI to do 60Hz, only got 30Hz, but maybe it was the cable Update: DOES not support HDMI 2.0, only 1.4. Therefore the seller description is NOT correct. Max refresh for a 4k screen is only 30Hz. ... show more

  • Worked Well Until it Died
Size: UM890 Pro(32+1T)
I purchased the MINISFORUM UM890 Pro on May 6, 2025. Mine has 64GB of RAM and I substituted the 1TB SSD for a 2TB Samsung SSD. I installed Win 11 Pro. I put the 1TB SSD in an external drive case. Up until yesterday I have been very happy with this mini PC. It has had an issue with mouse lockups occasionally. I am using this mini PC with MINISFORUM DEG1 EGPU with a GEFORCE RTX 5060Ti and a Corsair RM750e power supply. That power supply is overkill. It has never had enough load to start the fan. Yesterday in the middle of playing World of Tanks it died. Could not get it to restart. I checked the external power supply, and the voltage was correct (19 VDC) according to my multimeter. I contacted MINISFORUM Tech Support and they replied with troubleshooting steps. The unit is definitely dead. Waiting for a reply from tech support from my responses to their troubleshooting steps. MINISFORUM has a two-year warranty. I already ordered a replacement PC from Amazon that should arrive today. Anyone that has worked in the computer industry as long as I have knows that components can (and do) fail. That is why always backing up your data is critical. ... show more

  • Great things come in small packages
Size: UM890 Pro(32+1T)
I got this mainly due to my new living conditions. I rent a room now and my bedroom is now an office/sleep quarters/game room. I have this mini pc behind the desk so that I can maximize my homework/work space on my tiny desk. Ok, now to the computer. I love the fact I can have multiple monitors running without issue. I have it paired with a blue tooth soundbar and I don't hear any apparent audio lag. I use it currently for video editing family movies and short clips for work. I also use it occasionally for light gaming such as Fortnite and older games on GOG. New AAA titles are something I have no interest in at the moment. It was easy to upgrade the storage by adding a Samsung 990 EVO 2 TB to go with the original 1 TB. Just be careful with the connected cables inside. All in all, this mini pc serves my uses well. Sorry for not getting too technical but if an average user is just looking to clear up desk space, then this pc is a great choice. EDIT-Ok, I had to submit a return order due to this little guy dying on me. It got stuck in a reboot cycle and tried a self repair with no success. I had spare ram modules which I used to troubleshoot any memory issues but I had the same problem. Since I had no spare SSD to use, I had to send it off for a refund. So any issues are up in the air at the moment, Windows being Windows or hardware issue... I would of liked to have had more time to troubleshoot on my own but the return window was closing fast on the weekend and I needed another pc. I'll look elsewhere for another mini pc since they are perfect for my living conditions at the moment. I've updated from 5 to 4 stars for being a trooper while it lasted and for the manufacturer for reaching out to me concerning my issues. I'll give Minisforum another chance, perhaps on a newer model in the coming months/year. ... show more

  • OCULINK Requires NVME/m.2 Slot
Size: UM890 Pro(32+1T)
UPDATE: After a year, it will no longer power on. I am hoping this is a power supply issue and I have ordered a replacement one in hopes that solves it. That being said, this thing has always been on a UPS, in the year that I have had it, it has never lost power. A power supply should last more than 13 months. This is now the 4th Minisforums computer I have bought for work that has had power supply issues. I have never had an issue with Beelink. I replaced about 40 computers at my work with mini PCs, about 15% Minisforum and 85% Beelink and Beelink has been never given me an issue. 4 out of 6 or 7 seems like a very high average of failure. I love the UM890... it has been great for doing anything from Photoshop to Premiere and it does great at transcoding to hevc/h265... so this is highly disappointing. UPDATE #2: ordered a replacement power supply and it still wouldn't boot. This lead me to believe the power problem to be on the board. sent back the replacement power supply. Checked Reddit and saw lots of posts with people that have had the same problem with the UM890 and other Minisforums computers as well. UPDATE #3: I contacted MinisForums support which definitely takes awhile... if you are in the United States, it is about a 24 hour time delay of getting a reply. I sent my UM890 back to them and they have repaired it and sending it back to me. This process took about 3 weeks of my first email to them emailing me saying they have repaired it. So by the time it arrives, it will probably be between 3 - 4 weeks. That isn't exactly ideal but according to them they did repair it which is fantastic since this thing has went up over $300 since I originally bought about 14 months ago and I wasn't looking forward to spending nearly a thousand dollars on a replacement. I really wish I had gone with the GMKtek K11 over this. GMKtek support is amazing... my only reason for picking the UM890 over the K11 was the oculink port on the K11 is on the front instead of the rear. Now I wait to see how Minisforum support will handle this but I am pretty sure I will never buy another one of their products again. UPDATE #2 - received new power supply and the UM890 would still not boot up. When the new power supply is plugged into the UM890, it immediately faults. Something is definitely wrong on the UM890, not a power supply issue, just something wrong on the board. Miniforums support offered useless suggestions like holding down the reset button for 30 seconds, or removing ram/ssd and trying again, holding down power button for 3 seconds. I've seen other reviews and posts online with Miniforums computers having this exact issue. I will never order anything from them again after this. I know it says it in the description but it bears repeating... I didn't realize how much I would miss not having that 2nd m.2 slot if I wanted to use Oculink. I spent a lot of time looking at this and the similary speced one from GMKtec. There was only a $1 difference between the two at the time of purchasing but I opted for the Minisforum simply because the Oculink port was on the back and the GMKtec was on the front. In the end, aesthetics won out... had GMKtec put the Oculink on the back and didn't use the bright green button, I would have went that route... when I added the GMKtec oculink AD-GP1 to this, I had to give up my m.2 slot. Luckily I had a SSK nvme enclosure handy so I put my 2nd drive in it. Not a big fan of having all of these cables on my desk but it works. Performance wise, this thing is a champ for its size. It easily handles everything I do in Photoshop and Lightroom. We have used Premiere on lower end mini PCs but I haven't tried to do any video editing on this yet but if it works on a 5700u, I'm sure the 8945hs will be even better.... and with the AD-GP1, rendering should be faster than relying on the 780m. Honestly, it is amazing how much performance we can get now out of such a small form factor. The first thing I did was open it up which I must mention how AWESOME Minisfourm made this... the top snaps on magnetically so no need to try and remove the rubber feet... you just pop the top off and you are in. You need to remove the fan cable to get easier access and I wish they made that cable a bit longer because it is a bit more challenging reconnecting the cable than removing the cable. I ordered 2tb WD Black SN850 to replace the cheap looking one that came with it and I had an old 970 Evo that I had in the 2nd slot until I got the Oculink card. But seriously, being able to pop the magnetic top off to access the 4 phillips screws was a nice touch. There are 2 sticks of Crucial ram in it but I don't recall the speed. I will probably upgrade that two 64gb later. I wish the bios/uefi had an option for XMP... if it does, I didn't see it so I am hoping it is using the full speed of the ram, especially when I upgrade it later. I replaced my old desktop which was an AMD 3800X with a Radeon 5700XT and this thing out performs it at a fraction of the cost. I am pretty sure I paid more for the chip/motherboard than I did for this mini PC and it is easily 10 times smaller. Had Minisforum opted to have the Oculink separate from the secondary m.2 and a tad longer fan cable, this would be 5 stars... losing the m.2 slot was kinda painful and trying to reattach the fan cable is a tad frustrating given how short it is. Other than that, the price is hard to beat and the performance is phenominal for its miniscule size. ... show more
