This is my second mini PC. The first was Asus, which suffered from overheating. This Minisforum is by far better in that respect. Idle temp is 35, and full strain is 80 max, and it is quiet even then. Processor is very powerful, and so is the GPU, even though I do not use it for gaming. Bought the UM790 Pro barebones, added Crucial RAM 96GB Kit (2x48GB) DDR5 5600MT/s, fanxiang S880 4TB NVMe SSD M.2 2280 for Data, and fanxiang S880 2TB NVMe SSD M.2 2280 for Windows 11 and two or three different Linux versions. also bought Maxonar USB C to DisplayPort VESA Certified, 8K 60Hz Type C to DP Cable 6.6FT/2M ($16.99 ) Everything just worked. Date of purchase Jan 13, 2024, total Amazon cost with cable was $1,201.88. Just had my 78th birthday, so it took me a long time to go barebones, but I found that someone else used 96 GB ram and 6 TB SSD, so barebones is the only way to get that high performance. Kind of spooky, but the return policy of Amazon makes it all possible. The unit is rock solid, and Costco just had a sale on a 4k monitor (LG 32UN500-W Monitor 32" UltraFine (3840 x 2160) Display, AMD FreeSync, DCI-P3 90% Color Gamut, HDR10, Built-in Speakers = $250) so I bought that yesterday! Life is good. This is a long way from programming the 6502cpu with 16k of ram and using a tape recorder for storage. ... show more

I like the miniPC. Small and working well except for the audio jack that refuses to work despite all of efforts to try all sorts of audio drivers included that one is provided on Minisforum website.     • Great product for a quiet and low wattage NAS
Pairing this unit with a JBOD hard drive enclosure has made for a LOVELY home server solution that is quiet, low wattage, small, and cheap while bringing great performance for my use case. Running OMV 6 on this unit allows it to handle many Docker containers at once to serve multiple users and tasks at once with ease. The N100 CPU does great with media transcoding (assuming you have a new enough Linux kernel to support it, which is a nonissue nowadays) with quick playback and low CPU usage while streaming. I think it would be a hard task to find another mini PC with the same specs at the same price--especially one with dual gigabit connectivity on the back. More than pleased with this device and with this being my first Minisforum product I'm sure I'll become a repeat customer. ... show more

This is a great computer so far . The greatest thing is the space savings on the desk . It is not only a great machine for office but easily handles any normal network light gaming and internet use. For the price, it's pretty good. Only two complaints: - The plastic parts used in the casing. They feel quite cheap. - Windows. I'd rather have received the drive empty. I don't want any dollar I spent in this computer to be used to pay that trashy operating system. I regret buying it with a hard drive, next time I'll get a barebone to be sure that no money goes to Microsoft for the OS. These two complaints shouldn't matter to many people, hence I don't remove any star. ... show more
