This is the 2nd machine I'm returning. The first one was a different brand and wouldn't work properly either (similar type machine), so I explored and found this one with mostly good reviews. I should've read the poor reviews because that is exactly what this machine deserves. Before giving this to my granddaughter (the first one I gave her for Christmas and I didn't open it to test it out - it got returned for lack of working- it kept jamming). So this is the replacement I bought. I had it sent to myself so I could test it out before giving to her. I sewed the elastic band inside my pajamas perfectly. It worked like a charm. I decided I would cut up a t-shirt and sew some seams and do some test stitches to give to my granddaughter along with the machine. I did this immediately after sewing the pajamas. I hadn't changed any settings or anything. When trying to sew the tshirt, the thread kept coming out of the needle. I kept rethreading it but then when the thread didn't come out, it would constantly jam and not sew any stitches at all. The needle broke! I tried putting a new needle in that came with the machine. The needle would not go in (flat side to the right as per instructions). I have experience with sewing machines and know how to thread a machine and replace needles. No matter what I did while the screw was loose, the needle would not go into the hole. I guess I'm going to have to spend a little more money so my granddaughter doesn't get disappointed with a crappy machine. DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP! This machine isn't worth a quarter! ... show more

This is an awesome little machine. I am not an experienced seamstress. My mom taught me hiw to sew by hand when I was young. However, since then, and rather for many years I have not seen anything. I am petite and I had some close that were too long. I was going to take them to the taylor, but the amount of new clothes I had to be hemmed would cost me a nice amount of money. I bought this machine and tried it out. I did not get the straight stitching correct at first, however I watched some videos on YouTube. I practiced a few times to get it right and I had to get more yarn as well since I kept messing up. I now have improved enough to hem several of my pants. I have been home because I had a medical procedure done which caused me a lot of pain. My doctor told me I needed to move around and do something so I walked but when this became painful, I tried out my little sewing machine and all I can say is that I absolutely love it!!! I haven’t used a sewing machine since junior high home ec, and that was over 50 years ago! There was a craft project I really wanted to do but it required a sewing machine. I wanted one that a novice could use without too much learning, was small and lightweight. After looking through the reviews I decided on this one. I’m glad I did. I looked it over to familiarize myself with where everything was, read the instructions, and started sewing. It offers many automatic stitches, from straight to zigzag. Comes with the bobbin already threaded. Of course just starting out my “straight” stitch wasn’t exactly straight but it got better with a little practice. In addition to the craft project I’ve done a few hems. I’m finding it fun and have a feeling of accomplishment! I recommend it for kids and anyone else that’s giving sewing a try for the first time. ... show more

Unfortunately the foot controller does not work. This item was bought with enough time to arrive for my niece to have her Christmas gift on time. Nevertheless, she has not been eble to use it. I would like to return or replace it, so that she can play with her Christmas gift.

Purchased for my 9 yr old granddaughter. Neither of us ever used a sewing machine. After a lot of research I decided to get this one. It was great, ready to use and so much fun. It’s light weight and fit in a tote bag for storage with all her sewing material. I kind of messed it up when cutting the thread but looked up the machines info and found great how to videos.
