I had an issue with one of the handles being defective, and customer service at the company was very responsive and helpful. They sent me the replacement part within days. This’ll teach me to buy a pet carrier online. That was dumb. Never again. If you buy this product, at best you can have the fun of ordering parts that were either a) missing upon arrival or b) meant to replace dangerously defective components (see the picture portraying the loose bar on the top door). At worst, you can have the ultimate joy of almost losing your pet, because this product is so shoddily put together that they can bash the door right out and escape from their carrier! :D That was the abridged version. For the full version of my nightmare experience, pull up a comfy chair, get a snack, and proceed below! One of the four door handles was missing, and the ordered part would not come in time for my kitty’s vet appointment. I had no other carriers available, so I had to hold my breath and hope to GOD that the damn door would not open and let my cat out. There is a six hour time difference between where I live and the main facility that sells these carriers, so that meant that I had to wait until 3 AM my time before I could place a call, where I talked to a pretty unfriendly and curt female operator who couldn’t have cared less about the fact that the part was missing, or for the risk that its absence posed to my kitty at all. Whatever, I thought, at least I got the missing part in the mail. When I put the carrier together, I noticed that one of the bars on the grill of the top door was ajar and poking upwards. I wrapped electrical tape around it and forgot to order a replacement grill upon my first call. I call the same number again and this time got a much friendlier, more helpful and concerned representative who requested that I send a picture of the defective part as proof, among other information. Okay, fine, got that done. Keep in mind that it is weeks before I get everything I need to make a complete, functional (HA!) carrier. The problem is, it was hell to assemble all of the parts onto the top grill in the first place, such as the handle and the two latches, because I discovered that the space between the bars on the grill is NARROWER at one end than the other (quality control issue, check). I also have carpal tunnel in both hands, so that added to the fun. Now I have a vet appointment for my other kitty, and the night before, I take off the top door and attempt to take off the handle and latches from the defective grill. No can do, it was tightly on there, and its fate is sealed. No worries, the electrical tape is still holding, so I figure that’s a minor problem. Here is the finale, the coup de grace you’ve all been waiting for. I put my kitty in the carrier for his appointment and test the door to make sure it is securely fastened and will not open. I take the carrier out of the door and begin the descent down the 15 steps. On the very first step, my kitty head-butts the front of the cage, sending the ENTIRE DOOR flying off down the stairs! He launches himself out of the carrier and proceeds to hurtle at lightning speed down the stairs, and is only stopped when my mom (GO MOM!) expertly grabs him at the bottom step. The vet visit is ruined, and because I am now late I have a strike against me according to my vet’s late cancellation policy. Three strikes and I’m out, which means that I can no longer make appointments and will have to pay $130 in order to make emergency visits. But hey, that’s a TINY price to pay when you consider that a) I came REALLY close to losing my kitty, and b) in the mad scramble to retrieve my kitty, I could have fallen down the stairs and my mom could’ve also been seriously injured. Upon returning to the house in complete and utter defeat, I saw that the bottom latch on the lower right end of the door was hanging down loosely. I slap it back up. The picture where you see the latch flush to the bottom is how it’s supposed to look, while the other picture is how I found it. If your hobby is wasting $33.50 and then waiting until 3 am to call customer service in order to patiently and kindly talk to a crabby representative to order parts only to almost not only LOSE your cat but also potentially fall down the stairs, thereby rendering all of your efforts to salvage this shoddy piece of trash a laughable, pathetic, and most of all FUTILE endeavor, then by all means, go ahead and have fun!

I bought this pet carrier only to find, during assembly, that there were no hinges for the front door included in the packaging. I arranged for a return and ordered another, hoping it would arrive with all the parts. Alas, the second was also lacking the door hinges. I called the manufacturer and was told it was a known problem, and was somehow due to Amazon's repackaging of the product. Whether that was true or not, Midwest mailed hinges the same day and they arrived very quickly. I'm very pleased with the carrier. I like that the door can be opened from either side, and find the fact that the top opens especially useful for getting a reluctant puppy inside.

This came missing a door hinge. I reached out to the seller and they were super nice and sent me a hinge within the week. Of course, I only just now see this is a known & recurring issue. I hope Amazon can get it together and start shipping things out with all their parts more reliably. I put this together easily and my cat weirdly loves it? I leave it out and he loves to hide in here. I suppose we'll see if that continues once I inevitably take him to the vet in this carrier. My cat is about 10 lbs and it holds up well. I'm able to secure the doors tightly so I'm not worried about him escaping.

First one came without a handle. The merchant did send a new one right away. It was a little difficult to put together and I wound up using zip ties in place of some of the fasteners that came with the crate. The quality isn’t the best (the front gate comes off but is easy to fix). However, for the price, it is fine to bring my cat back and forth to the vet.

I selected this crate because it was the only hard sided top-opening crate of medium size with a top grate that you can see through well. It's a pretty crappy cage. Cheap manufacturing, pieces don't fit very well (took over 30 minutes to assemble because some pieces would NOT pop into place without some force with a tool - I feel lucky that none of them broke in the process). That's after I found all the pieces - some were floating loose inside the box and not inside the baggies of parts. The handle doesn't fold down. Instruction photos are blurry (I actually used a magnifying glass to figure out which way the handle attachment pieces needed to go). I've assembled multiple pet carriers before, and it's a joke that this one advertises "Easy Assembly". Honestly, I'd go for the Petmate medium instead of this one if you don't need that clear top view inside that I needed for this specific use. I have a smaller size Petmate and really like it. My advice is to skip this cage. Once we are done with the project I need it for with my pets, I'm not very likely to use it again.

I bought this for my cat, who has super long legs and a really long body. She would lose her mind in the smaller "cat" carriers whenever I had to take her somewhere, so this is perfect to give her enough room to move around but still secure. When my package arrived, I was missing the 4 front door hinges. It was easy enough to call the manufacturer and they sent replacement hinges right away. This actually gave me time to put the crate together without the door, and let my cat acclimate to her new travel house. So, the missing hinges were a win because now the carrier lives in my living room with the door open, and she enjoys taking naps there.
