    • Looked unused (not refurbed), included all hardware, not too painful to install.
I had been looking at these units for a while - then at the furthest point from AC season, literally 6 months until I typically turn them on - I see a refurb 12000 BTU unit for less than half price of a new unit (if bought in the throes of hot season). Reading the reviews is a mixed bag, but inconsistent. Some comment on receiving what looks like a new unit, some comment that their unit is beat up, and some comment that they are missing hardware. I ordered two and thankfully, my experience is what looks to be never before installed units including all hardware. There are many helpful videos available on Youtube, including an excellent one from Midea. This unit is smaller and not has heavy as the 5000 BTU Frigidaire unit that it replaced. I didn't need two people to lift it into the window as the video suggests. The first install took about half an hour and went as smoothly as could be expected. The only slight problems i had were the part about cutting the foam and fitting it - and this is due to me using kitchen knives and approximating the measurements without using a pencil. Any air gaps leftover are easily hidden with white duct tape (not included). Part of the Midea video instructions say to use air conditioning sealer tape - which is not included nor is it listed in the manual as a part. Everything else was included. The 2nd unit took about 15-minutes due to me going through it once already. The temps are in the low 60s outside, so there's only so much I can do to test these things out. You can be sure that if things don't work out when I need them that I will be back with a modified review, but for now it works. On full blast, this is between the loudness of my previous AC unit between low and medium. At low settings, this is the quietest unit I've ever experienced. The low fan setting is actually 40% and with the Midea app, it can be lowered even more to the point where the fan is quieter than ambient noise (I have a computer in the same room making fan noise). Both units cooled down the room very quickly to 60F. But at the same time, it really isn't a true test of the unit to cool a room to 60F when it's already 65F. This isn't what I would be using the unit for. However, so far so good. If it's June 2024 and no update from me, then I have no complaints (or I abandoned my account LOL). Very pleased so far. Call me crazy, but installing 2 12000 BTU units at the furthest point away from when I need them seems crazy, but at the same time - these two units together cost less than if I went out and bought just a single one when I needed it - and even then, it might be sold out. Update 4 months later: it's getting to the season where it's not too hot outside, but the humidity approaches 100%. I've been running these in dehumidifier mode as needed. They are working well. I'm digging the app that lets me change settings on both units without having to be in the same room (or area) as the units as long as I have data or Wi-Fi connectivity. It's much easier to use the app vs the remote. Plus, since I keep my mobile device around me, no more hunting for the remotes that I usually misplace if I'm not using it every day. I've found that both units remotes work with each unit and I haven't found a way to make it so each remote only works with the unit it was packaged with - but I also don't need that functionality. ... show more

I bought my 1st 12k a/c of this brand new. This is for my 2nd and 3rd a/c brand in refurbished condition. The seller I bought the refurbished ones from was DooDahDeals. These a/c's have preformed excellent in keeping a stable room temp in the middle of summer in Louisiana with poor insulation in direct sunlight. Hence the reason I bought 2 more. My 2 refurbished ones were bought at the same time from the same seller. 1 came in with a tiny dent on the outside that you have to be really close to even see. The 2nd one looked brand new. Both of them had excellent packaging, connected to the app well, and functioned properly. 1 did have a quiet rattle when I first turned it on but it disappeared in less than 5 minutes and didn't return. Instillation was a breeze because I already owned one. The first one took some time to put in but as others have stated, the video is what you need. After your first install, the rest are a breeze. Because I live where the mosquitoes will fly off with you, I did buy the mesh cover for all of them. Happy to report no bugs coming in from the a/c. Some reviews state the no drip drain might be a problem. I haven't had a problem with it as of yet however all my a/c's are in direct sunlight all day. I have seen reviews where "the filter is the wrong size". The filter is actually curved inside the unit and has guide slots for it to fit in. Once in correctly, it not only fits well but also filters nicely. The reminder to clean the filter is nice. I don't use the swing or ion functions as I don't need them, but they do work. The U shape and closing of the vent flap when off has prevented a lot of air from outside being pushed in like the square window units. This really helps during the winter. These are about as small and light as a 5k unit. My electric bill did go down after changing from my 10k LG to these in prior year/month comparison. I saved a ton by buying refurbished and got the same results as new. All in all, I would (and did) buy this unit again. ... show more

    • Renewed wasn't worth it
It says it is quick and easy install. It took us much longer than our older window unit. Granted this is almost 72 pounds so I did expect it to take awhile, but not as long as it did. Renewed products say they come with all accessories a new product comes with. Ours didn't. It did not have the white insulation tape or the window seal insulation foam that has a sticky back so it sticks to the bottom of the window. The insulation it did come with was in bad shape - crushed to the point of wondering if it was worth using. Why would i want to install an a/c without insulating the sides? After all the effort of getting it installed using old insulation foam pieces from our old unit, it didn't work. Error code EL OC. Shut it off. Unplugged it. Waited 10-15 minutes. Pressed the reset button and plugged in. Again EL OC. From what I could research on Midea air conditioner error codes, this means a refrigerant leak or not enough refrigerant. Did they test this used product before marking it renewed? So now I have to pull off the insulation and uninstall the bracket and repack and return it. This was so disappointing I will never buy a renewed product which is supposed to be fully functional and with all accessories ever again. At this point, I don't even want to buy an air conditioner if it has to be shipped. ... show more

    • Quiet cool effient.
I have always been a fan of mini split systems , the concept is just so much more efficient and smart. The U shape is the same concept. The hot loud part is out side the window in its own separate section, so much better the. Normal window unit. I stallation is awesome with the bracket provided. I first looked. At it and said what the heck is all this. But I watched the vid that they provided and I was like this is the best ac install I have ever done. Highly recommend This unit ... show more
