  • Who knew a Midea could be so good!
Color: White Size: 8,000 BTU
This is a solid product w/bells and whistles included in much higher end models. It blows cool (of course), is efficient (drawing around 5-6 amps). It has versatile controls like eco (if you like that kinda thing), humidity control and does the job quite well for an 8000BTU unit. We have a Cape Cod w/the master bedroom upstairs where it gets pretty hot in the summer (like today 91). This is a fairly large room (going the full length of the house) so cooling it by itself is quite a lot to ask, But since it draws so little current, I was able to add an additional GE unit (5000BTU) to support it. Between the two, our upstairs has never been so cool! Even checked w/my Amp Clamp and pulling below 10 amps on the whole circuit (smiling). We've had it all up there....A large unit that does the job but is a b*tch to load in and out of a window. Portable units which are inefficient as hell and everything in between like a 10,000BTU that did the job but worked like a dog doing it. Anyway, it's a nice unit barely 50lbs so it's easy to handle w/out having to support outside w/a brace. Great system that I'd highly recommend as a moderately priced mid-level AC w/some perks. ... show more

  • June 2021-July 2023 STILL GOING STRONG
Color: White Size: 8,000 BTU
My apt built in late 20's (plaster walls/ceiling, no sheet rock, or insulation). I'm upstairs (heat rises) with sun beating down on roof and 2 outer walls). You can imagine how HOT the place gets! This air conditioner is a blessing! My electric bills have been pretty low considering (I have two air conditioners going during hot peak hours). It's also light weight (lighter then others I've installed, and easy installation). Oh! And it doesn't give off that moledy stench that some do after you've had it for a while. The trick is proper square footage as per instruction, and cooling down the room before it gets blistering inside/out. It's not crazy loud, but not quiet either. If you're not sitting right in front of it, it's not bothersome. My room size is 19ft X 17ft I just purchased the Media 6000 btu for my bedroom to replace a different gross model. *Update: Media 6000 btu was easy to install. And working great! The room size I'm using this model is 11ft x 11ft. 6000 btu model is good for smaller rooms. ... show more

  • Works very well but is louder than expected.
Color: White Size: 8,000 BTU
Installation wasn't too difficult, but it was harder than I had anticipated. It blows very cold air and works well. However, it is very loud, and the settings are a little confusing. I like the remote feature, but there is a delay when using it. Overall, It's a good unit and I am happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • I'm a fan of the Midea brand, even if I don't know how to pronounce it.
Color: White Size: 8,000 BTU
I'm impressed with this little thing. I have it cooling a room well over its recommended size and it does it well. The eco mode does a great job of minimizing power use and actually keeping the room cool. The fan is noticeable on high when it first comes on but blends into the background well enough. I installed it by myself, wouldn't recommend doing it solo, but hot weather drives determination. It's been nearly 4 years since I purchased it. I figure if I jinx it now by leaving a good review and it croaks tomorrow, I'll buy another one just like it and not feel too bad about it. I leave it in the window all year long. I've done nothing except unplug it during the winter and clean the filter. I noticed it doesn't drain well, even when tilted quite far back. I'd drill a hole in the bottom to help with the draining but it's pretty high up and I'll need to borrow a ladder to reach it. ... show more

  • 8000 BTUS, pretty quiet as window AC goes, not silent, low power draw.
Color: White Size: 8,000 BTU
less than 650 watts for 8000 BTUs, Not ice cold air, but as the room cools this gets cooler. We have a room that does not cool enough with central air between ducting issues and heat produced in the room. This thing cools the room nicely in just a few minutes, then shuts off. We are running it in ECO mode now and it still only takes a few minutes to make the room cozy despite a 3d printers and other geek toys heating it up. ... show more

  • Bad thermostat
Color: White Size: 8,000 BTU
This item works...but it doesn't get as cold as I'd like it to and it doesn't dehumidify very well. The controls are very confusing, and I still haven't figured out how to turn on just the dehumidifier or just the fan, or even change the fan speed (nothing happens when I press the fan speed button...it only stays on auto). The thermostat doesn't read temperature correctly so it stops running before it should. I have to set it to 64 to get it to 68 in the room, and it only gets down to 66 or 64 in the room if it's cold enough outside, when an AC isn't typically needed. I'm worried how this will hold up in the summer, because it doesn't perform well in the mid-70s weather we've been having. Back to the thermostat, it doesn't run if I turn it on 65. I HAVE to set it to 64 to do anything, but even then it turns off quickly. In order to get it to keep running, I have to set it to 63 AND turn off the eco mode. This is how I can get it to go to the colder temperatures, but then it runs the entire time and doesn't stop. So the thermostat just isn't a thing I guess. If it weren't such a hassle I'd return this product, but I'll wait and see how it performs in the Texas heat. I have the warranties ready to go just in case it craps out on me, which I suspect it might. All in all, not worth the money. I'd prefer to buy a cheaper one that does the same exact thing when I just turn it on hi/lo. Edit: after having this item for 2 months, it simply doesnt work when it gets warm outside. It got to 90 degrees today and it could only cool it to 70 degrees, even when set to 64. To be honest, tho, i think it was 70 bc of my central air, not this unit. (I use it to cool off one room but main ac staus on for the house) ... show more

  • If inconsistent noise is your sleep jam….
Color: White Size: 8,000 BTU
I bought this last summer and, of course, the heat streak broke on delivery, ha. I did not install till a few days ago. Okay y'all, this unit is loud but I have to have a fan at night anyway so that wouldn’t bother me EXCEPT it’s weird loud. Inconsistent loud, like it’s yelling its every move to you loud. I think it would be okay in a non sleeping area but from someone who can fall asleep to jet turbines, this a big flaw for me. Also makes me wonder, if it’s this janky now, how long will it last? Anyway, I’m going to use it to cool down my upstairs bedroom before I go to bed but other than that this is a big no from me. Your results may vary. ... show more

  • Great Window Unit
Color: White Size: 8,000 BTU
Midea is the best. I ordered one for my shed and bought a another one as a backup in 2024 and never needed it. Still in the box but I wouldn't buy any other window unit except Midea. I never had an issue with it and its still doing great three years later.
