I hesitated to buy this product for a few months because I read a few bad reviews. However, I have a hyperbaric chamber in my room that gets overwarm during use and really needed an AC to make sure the room started out very cool. We've been really pleased with this air conditioner. We live in a very humid climate, with normal temps in high 70's to low 80's during the summer and it works well. We even leave that room open with a ceiling fan on, and it helps cool the living room as well. However, last year as well as this year, we've been having long stretches of heat with temps in the mid-to-high 90's, and have run this thing day and night for at least 3 weeks in a row, with NO issues. It keeps the room at the temp we ask for, dehumidifies the air so it's bearable to sleep at night. I'm REALLY pleased with it. The only bad thing I'll say is that you have to be directly in front of the unit for the remote to work right - it doesn't really work if you are at an angle to the window. Otherwise I highly recommend this unit, and am now considering purchasing another to place in a larger space in the house that doesn't cool off well. ... show more

The remote control I received did not work, however I didn't mind since it's not a bad A/C by all means. It gets cold- like really cold- even in 100+ degree weather (roughly 48 c) and was even able to cool down my entire house (albeit, it's a small house.) I bought this unit because my main air conditioner is far too expensive to run and is inefficient and fairly ineffective. My house was built in 1941 no insulation old windows feels like a garage most of the time in the summer. My living room dining room is all one room approximately 15x20. This little unit makes that room freezing cold! I recently bought a portable unit rated at 12,000 BTU and this one outperformed it by an incredible margin! I also just bought another window unit thinking it would be comparable and this unit blows the new one away. The one I just bought is the Tosot. It was $100 cheaper and I thought they would be on the same level. Sadly I was wrong. I am now wishing I would have just spent the extra hundred and bought this unit again. Having an old, heavy A/C unit in my livingroom forever that started making noise a couple of years ago, I finally decided to upgrade to a more energy efficient and, more importantly, a more QUIET model. I researched online, read all the reviews and saw that Midea A/Cs were supposedly the most quiet ones on the market. So, despite never having heard of the company before, I decided to take a chance. I also decided to get the BTU rated model that was the next level above what my square footage called for because I wanted it to get cool quickly. I paid to have this professionally installed and after sitting down on my couch and turning it on, I was I shocked to discover that it is absolutely the NOISIEST air conditioner I have ever owned! At its lowest fan setting, you can barely hear the living room TV over it. And on high, it sounds as if you're standing behind a city bus. As if that wasn't bad enough, my old unit rated for less BTUs was FAR more effective at cooling down the room more quickly. This model is a complete disappointment and a waste of my hard earned money. And sadly, it wasn't actually cheaper than the more well-known name brands, so it's not as if I saved money going with a lesser known brand and got what I paid for. I wanted a quiet A/C/ unit and was willing to pay premium price to get it, but instead got a noisy jet turbine that does a poor job cooling my living room. And the directional flaps on the vents that are supposed to let you choose where to point the air are useless. The air still comes out straight forward from the vent, so you'll need to block however much of vent you need to in order to avoid getting blasted by the air flow. Such a disappointment... this air conditioner is pretty marvelous, but be aware that it is also pretty heavy. like an anvil. so when you are maneuvering it, probably it would be best to have two people unless you are Thor.

Owning a very old house in Denver it is a great option to use window units until we spend $10k on a new furnace with central Air. I currently use 4 other Frigidaire window units in the house. Due to a severe hail storm one of ours died. So when looking for a replacement unit for the living room, i started reading reviews and looking at ratings. This one had 10x more positive reviews than any other Kenmore, GE, Samsung or Frigidaire unit out there. It is for great reason. It is so overpowered and efficient it makes other window units appear anemic and cheap. The remote works great, but the battery holder has a small clip that isnt the best. remote works great, battery doesnt fall out. just not the highest quality tiny part. The AC is a rockstar. it is heavy. but buy this! ... show more
