  • Perfect for boats
Style: 1,500 Sq. Ft.
I purchased the smaller - 20pt. version - for our 50' sailboat, and after 4 soggy months of use, am happy to report I am 100% very pleased with its performance. Size: It comfortably sits on the galley countertop, even though our boat is set up with the sink amidship, thus there is limited headroom above as the sunken cockpit is directly over this counter. The dehumidifier's 13.4"/34cm* height easily fits while still allowing unrestricted airflow around the unit. *These data are from provided specs. Without the enveloping collection box, which one does NOT want for this purpose, it is about 3/8"/2cm lower Convenience: I needed to be able to have the dehumidifier continuously drain so that we could be away from the boat in its winter mooring without returning to empty its reservoir every few days. The supplied hose is more than adequate to drain the water directly into the "seawater" sink - and thus back into the ocean rather than into a holding tank - so it could, in theory, operate in perpetuity. Performance: At the time of this writing, the unit has performed perfectly. The cabin air smells and feels fresh; there is zero mustiness, no mold/mildew growth, and even the bilges - whose many access hatches I have left open - are sweet, clean and dry. For economy's sake, I have it plugged into a clock timer which provides power 4 hours out of 24. The unit's electronic controls save settings, so when its power restarts the dehumidifier turns itself on using the previously set functions. Summary: for those who have access to electricity when docked, this is an excellent solution to keeping the air in a boat's cabin dry with a compact, well-performing machine. ... show more

  • An absolutely excellent dehumidifier
Style: 3,500 Sq. Ft.
I bought mine based upon Consumer Reports’ praise for these and reviews here and I haven’t been disappointed. You really couldn’t ask for a better dehumidifier. I recommend this thing to people all the time. It’s quite compact but holds way more water than most dehumidifiers twice it’s size. It’s pretty quiet for what it is. It’s very effective. Got a dank mildewy basement apartment well under control in just a few days and kept it that way. Brought a 1200 square foot apartment from 65+% humidity down to 35% in just under 4 days of running around the the clock and the mildew smell was 90% gone. Only had to empty the bucket once a day and the app tells you how full the bucket is at anytime and even estimates when it will be 100% full. It switches itself off when it’s full obviously. It even has a spigot like thing on the bottom so you can connect a hose for continuous draining if needed. It’s also quite reasonable on electricity use *for a dehumidifier*. Bear in mind, dehumidifiers do use a lot of electricity if you run them all the time. Think small window air conditioner, not box fan (in terms of electricity use) and you have the idea. Really the only suggestion I could make as an improvement would be to add caster wheels to the bottom and perhaps a retractable power cord like some vacuums have. Oh, and it even has an app to control it which works via Wi-Fi. So you could literally turn it on or off when you’re at a friends house or work if you want to. You can also set it to maintain a certain humidity automatically. NOTE: It does NOT have wheels, but it does have sturdy handles. If you can lift 25 lbs off the floor with one hand, you’ll have no trouble carting it around or emptying the bucket. I would say that an elderly person or a child under 13 or so might struggle a bit to lift the the unit and move it around or lift the bucket when it’s full though. If you plan to move it around a lot, you could put it on a sturdy, low profile platform with wheels. If the weight is an issue, just empty the bucket when it’s half-full and you’ll probably make do just fine. Bear in mind, you do need to lift the entire unit UP and OFF of the bucket it sits upon in order to empty it. If lifting 20-25 lbs with one arm isn’t an issue for you — then you’ve found your dehumidifier, your search is over. It’s a well-engineered and well-built unit that’s worth every penny. Buy this or one of the similar smaller or larger cube-shaped Midea units and I’m confident you’ll be pleased with the results. ... show more

  • Works well, internet features are a gimmick
Style: 3,500 Sq. Ft.
When we went to replace our old dehumidifier, it was surprisingly hard to find one with a decent-sized storage bucket. Ours runs a lot in our finished basement, and we didn't want to have to empty the bucket 3 times a week. The cube has a good-sized bucket, and in theory is easy to monitor. I say in theory, because the device completely loses its internet connection at least once a month if not more. The dehumidifier is sitting directly underneath the wireless AP, but frequently will lose the wifi setup. When this happens, it stops looking for the selected AP and must be setup from scratch again to make it connect to the house wifi. That means it enters its own access point mode, connect to it with the phone, then choose the house wifi. I asked customer service if there was a way to keep it connected to our home network longer than 30 days, and they replied by linking to the directions to connect it to the internet, completely ignoring my question. I know I sound negative about this device, but it's really just the internet part that doesn't work well. The dehumidifier part is great. Ours is in the TV area, and unlike the previous unit, we don't need to turn it off to watch TV. Overall a good purchase, but don't count on the remote monitoring function. ... show more

  • Works great!
Style: 1,500 Sq. Ft.
At the time of this review, I’ve had the dehumidifier running at max for the last week. It collects water as expected, is decently powerful, and has a good amount of control. You can configure it to run until a set humidity level is reached, to a timer, or to continuously run at max. Having the options to choose how I want the device to run has been far more convenient than I had expected. The noise levels aren’t too bad, but is rather noticeable at max speed. If you configured the dehumidifier to run at normal power, then volume shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I have not tried out the app and don’t intend to. Supposedly it will also auto-shutoff when the container is full, which I have yet to test. Also the instructions say you can pump water out directly from the unit instead of using the included container, although I have yet to try it. ... show more
