  • Great dehumidifier
I’m really happy with this dehumidifier. It pulls the moisture out in no time. I like the timer function and the pump feature is really useful. The app was easy to get going and it’s really handy when I don’t feel like going down to my basement to turn it on. Some people were complaining it’s loud, it’s not. It’s not going to be whisper quiet, it’s going to make some noise. This is the second item I’ve purchased through Amazon renew and I will continue to buy more! ... show more

  • Happy with it
I have owned four Midea dehumidifiers prior to this one. This is my favorite so far. It has a small bucket, so I recommend this model for people who plan to use the drain or pump feature in order to avoid emptying the bucket frequently. As a refurbished unit, it is a pretty good value for one with the pump feature. No auto-defrost but from what I understand that feature is only necessary if you are operating the dehumidifier in an area that is below 60 degrees (which does not apply to me). The main improvement on this model vs other ones is the noise -- the fan is certainly noticeable at 57 decibels, but at least it is consistent. Previous models that I have had would make a variety of clunking, droning, and fan noises as the fan, compressor, and/or pump kicked in. If it's in your living room, all these different noises can get pretty distracting after a while. The manufacturer seems to have solved that issue with this model -- the main noise is from the fan, which is either on or off. I really appreciate this improvement because I have it running 24-7 in my living space with the pump activated. It does have a quirk where it cuts off at the target humidity level, then the humidity number starts to count up to around 62 and then it turns on again and the number drops immediately. My room humidity obviously did not increase that much in a three minutes, so I think it has to do with the location of the sensor. Bad design maybe but the point is that it successfully keeps my living space between 45 and 50 percent humidity, which is my target so I just ignore the number on the machine. I use the SmartHome app and like it -- you can check the humidity level and turn the unit and pump on and off. Lastly I would say that this dehumidifier is a relatively compact, lightweight and attractive unit compared to others than I have owned. It sits fairly low to the ground and is not intrusive visually. Hopefully it will be durable -- I will lower my review if it breaks in what I would consider an unreasonable amount of time. ... show more

  • Great for the price
Wife was looking for a dehumidifier that wasn’t going to be ridiculous in price for what we need. Gave this a one a try and it does really well. It’s quiet, what you hear is a very light fan noise if you’re in a completely quiet room. It does push out warm air. Size of the tank is nice but also has a tube that is connected to also push out water so you don’t have to worry about it getting full. The size big, almost a door frame long but it’s nice and easy to use. Controls the humidity really well and we are satisfied. The only thing I’d say is when moving it don’t tip it over or let a toddler push it over, otherwise have a lot of towels ready. ... show more

  • Amazon refurbished appliances have bad QC.
Boo! Refurbished product came in looking like new. Unfortunately it wouldn’t detect any humidity, so it never turned on the condenser. Also, the firmware refuses to update. Poor quality control on basic functionality.

  • Dehumidifier
Works great with our Alexa and has brought our 2,000 sq foot home down 30% in humidity in South Carolina weather! It’s fairly quiet and dumping it is super easy.

  • Beware Which port utilizes the pump Model Number MAD50PS1AWT-C
So as a reasonable consumer, I felt that a device advertised as having a pump would mean that both ports on the back of the machine are pump-driven, and that whichever one you choose would actively pump water out. Based on that assumption, I bought a 30-ft hose, ran it to my basement utility sink, set it, and forgot it. Two days later, I come downstairs to find my carpeted basement floor completely soaked. After doing a bit of research, I learned that the hose-compatible port is gravity drain only, and the pump is tied to the other outlet using the tiny tube they provide. Since my gravity drain run went up about three feet at the end, it created too much back pressure. The unit started filling the tank instead of draining and eventually leaked. To be clear, the pump itself works fine, and the unit does what it’s supposed to if you understand how the drainage is designed. But that distinction is not obvious from the marketing or documentation. Showing a pump and multiple rear ports strongly implies they’re interchangeable, and they’re not. If you want to extend the pumped drain beyond the short hose they include, the tubing you actually need is 1/4” outer diameter and ~3/16” inner diameter (my calipers measured ~0.25” OD and ~0.19” ID). That information would’ve saved me time, money, and a wet basement. Overall, decent machine, but the port labeling and explanation need to be clearer. If you plan to drain uphill or over long distances, make absolutely sure you’re using the pump outlet, not the gravity one. ... show more

  • Pretty good choice (you might want to read)
Okay let me start off by stating the obvious I don't write too many reviews. I live in a rural community and my house is fairly old so it's very humid in the morning and it normally get less humid throughout the morning and then late afternoon the house turns into kind of a greenhouse. I put up with this for roughly 4 years I've have dehumidifiers on air conditioners window units and they just can't combat it. So last week I broke down and bought one of these units I purchased this one because it had a pump and I could just stick the hose out the window. Unbeknownst to me it had a thing called mshield which is an ionizer of some kind. I put it at the halfway point of my house it's kind of a shotgun design. And I put it right next to a cat litter box didn't think much of it turned it on set up the little app and it started working. After about the first day the humidity dropped dramatically. My living room during the day will be around 80° but it feels like it's mid-70 because the lack of humidity. And with the ionizer I cant and smell the cat litter box. And when I wake up now my joints don't hurt as bad because of the dryer air. Would I buy another one Yes it's well constructed and it does a hell of a job. And if you buy this for your basement I don't think you can go wrong. But it's your decision I just figured someone might be looking and need an honest review. If there's any change about my opinion on the machine I will put an update with the date next to it. ... show more

  • Great so far
The 50 pt unit is a BEAST. Check the dimensions to make sure you know what you're getting. It's hefty too. Seems heavier than its listed weight but glad it seems durable. As for me, I had a recent roof leak and a landlord that's content to leave the ceiling saturated after a repair. Got the 50 pt refurbished model and it's been great at removing the moisture and smell from the house. It has an ozone/ion feature which is great, but I recommend only using it when not home or when in a different room. Ion generators are not really healthy to be around, I'd recommend googling it if that's news to you. Overall, it seems to work really well. I like the pump. Setting it for a humidity level seems to work well, but I have experience with humidity sensors, they can be really wonky so I don't expect 100% accuracy with anything with a humidity sensor. My favorite thing about this so far is that you can control with your phone BUT you can do it over the local network. I had to use and sign up on the android app to get it on my wifi, but once I did I was able to integrate this into home assistant and turn off internet access on the router for the humidifier. I hate giving 'smart' devices free reign on my network and access to the open internet, so I love that I can restrict access and yet still control w/ my phone, and stuff. Kudos to Midea. That's pretty rare. By the way, I thought this was missing the wheels when I bought it but they were inside the water tank. I didn't notice until I went to empty it for the first time. Much easier rolling this monster around than carrying it. ... show more
