For the money, this powerful little unit really works well. I use it to boost the cooling on the second floor of a cape cod style home with no attic above the ceiling. This space is typically 10-12 degrees warmer than the first floor with central AC running, but with this unit I can cut that down to a 4-5 degree difference ... show more

    • Good operation, easy to set up and use
The only downside is an mid-level buzzing sound from the compressor. It is expected and not overly irritating. It works for a college dorm room and my child said the sound is not intrusive and drowns out the ambient noise while sleeping.

    • The remote could use one work
It's not to loud but loud enough that I cover it with pillows when I sleep. It's cold and cools my room easily in the az desert. With alot of monitors heating up the room. The remote you have to face it perfectly at the top or it will not work

This is the second portable air conditioner that I have bought. Different brand. Gotvthe size for 150 sq. Ft room. Which is perfect. Assembly was easy, about 15 minutes with reading the directions. It cools my room very well but it's very very noisy. The noise is a big downside. The controls on both the unit and the remote control are basically straight forward. I got the MIDEA MAP05R1WT 3-in-1 Portable Air Conditioner delivered toward the end of Sept '21, come the 1st of Dec I was smelling a mildew smell. I've got lungs recovering from some damage and was feeling normal for months untill this started and I had to stop using it. This is my third Portable AC, an LG AND GE before this one. Both previous lasted for years and I've kept and cleaned them, learning from experience and following cleaning instructions and learning more online. There is a filter on the top quarter of the unit that is easy to clean and opens so you can even vaccum the coils at the top. Almost the bottom half is a vent that can't be opened so vaccum and condensed air is best you can do. No moisture in the pans, clean vent hose, everything I can reach is clean as I can get it. Midea tells me to use backing powder and a toothbrush to clean the vents, which I can't reach without opening the case which kills the warranty. There's nothing they can do for me, this AC unit that lasted a little over two months in the same conditions and room as the other two. Amazon to the rescue, and I couldn't be more grateful, cause I have to go hunting for another portable ac since I have the hottest room year round. Either there is something wrong with the unit I got or there is something wrong with the design, but my experience is more then enough to stay away from this brand. User’s manual not helpful and kind of random. Will not cool down a hot (100F and above) room, but will keep it cool enough to be tolerable if turned on before it gets that hot.
