Having purchased two U-shaped Midea airconditioners and a dehumidifier, I entered this purchase very happy with the products. The U-shaped ACs are very quiet and seemingly efficient. I love that you can turn off the LED panel lights and beeps. I bought this unit because it was Midea, because it was 14,000 BTUs, and the largest I could find using a 110v outlet. But perhaps the biggest reasons were because it was advertised to be quiet (Midea style?) and it installed by taking the unit out of it's shell in order to install the shell and then later slide in the unit. But, alas, this is simply your father's AC. It's pretty standard as far as noise and controls. At least I can turn it on with the app and change settings there. But the biggest issue was that it installed like your father's AC. It did NOT have the advertised method of installing the shell first! Booo! I contacted Amazon and they refunded enough money for me to by one of those brackets to hold the AC as you slide it out the window. ... show more

Not a good product. 14,000 BTU air conditioner should be heavy; this one wasn't. The box looked like it was in good shape. No tears or gashes and taping seemed original. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was all the pet hair covering the product. Then I discovered it was all dented and caved in on one side. I took it out of the box and decided to plug it in to see if it still worked properly. All it did was blow air. The compressor never came on. Other reviews shared similar stories. Bought this for an upstairs bedroom in a story and a half. It cools the room down quickly and runs quiet enough to sleep with. The app makes it so easy to use and it’s nice to turn on remotely. The 14000 btu runs flawlessly on standard electricity without any blown fuses etc. installation was easy. Would definitely buy again! ... show more

14000 btu works well so far ...cools whole first floor. Inverter units runs QUIETer than conventional ON/ OFF units . speed slows and quiets as it reaches set temp. Uses less power too. Weighs a LOT less than most other units of same size. I was able to lift it to install it myself. Not true for my Fredrick 14k Fredrick is truly the best quality you can buy. Can't say how long of a life this will have. Note that 14 K is biggest you can have on a 110volt circuit and it NEEDS ITS OWN CIRCUIT. ... show more
