I HAVE TESTED THE MOUSE AND KEYBOARD ON ANOTHER COMPUTER AND THEY WORK FINE. I HAVE ALSO TESTED MY USB C PORT ON THE SURFACE PRO X AND THAT IS FINE TOO, SO IT'S DEFINITELY THE HUB. Microsoft USB-C Travel Adapter Hub - Emits a High Frequency Sound when plugged in. It sounds like if you have tinnitus. If you connect any other devices to it, the high pitch noise increases in volume. It is already very annoying and to use the travel hub, I have to place it in a small box with foam to deaden the noise. I thought it was defective but apparently this issue is on other internet forums. I also noticed the 127W Power Supply that came with my Surface Book 3 also emits a high frequency noise when the laptop was fully charged. I requested a warranty replacement for both the laptop (the screen kept powering off when detached) and for the power supply due to the noise. Seems the high frequency pitch is a universal problem, albeit probably only noticeable to those with good hearing. Would not recommend due to the noise but also because the USB C slot cannot support a second monitor. You must use the VGA or HDMI. ... show more

I got this for my work from home setup to have a single plug and play solution. I was surprised how small it was, and the last photo showing how when it's not being used, the USB-C plug can be housed in a 'cord storage' opening is great for portability. In the quick start guide, there are some caveats: 1) only one video port (HDMI or VGA) can be used at a time 2) USB-C port doesn't support output to a display 3) hub doesn't support laptop charging 4) maximum speed for either USB port is limited to USB 2.0 none of the above are deal breakers as this is a portable dongle. ... show more
