    • Just because it’s “Brand new” doesn’t mean it won’t have issues
I purchased this computer back at the end of March and since then, I’ve had issues with the computer. For example, there are days I cannot use the computer longer than 5 minutes before it randomly restarts. I don’t dare to take an exam in my laptop or even watch a zoom lecture because it will most likely restart and I will have logged off my exam and zoom meeting. I tried to fix it multiple times but nothing seems to work. And then, out of nowhere, the screen broke (after research it seems like this can happen to Microsoft’s newer computers). I never had any kind of issues with my Apple computer and am regretting this purchase. ... show more

    • Deal Breaker: Adaptive Brightness
Why you shouldn't buy this: The AMD 15" version has adaptive brightness/dimming that you can't turn off. This is a feature by which Windows automatically reduces the brightness when the screen has dark areas. This is to save battery. Some people go into the back-end to disable this but I tried and couldn't. It's highly annoying and a deal breaker for me, but because there are so many high ratings here, it might not bug you. Another big con is that the Intel WiFi AX 201 device takes 15-30 seconds to activate after sleep. The wifi adapter gets put in a low-power state and it takes a while for it to get going again. There's a back-end way to remedy this but most people who don't want to fiddle with Windows will get irritated. The last thing is that the the 8GB AM version only has 6GB usable because the AMD graphics card uses 2GB for video. If you use Chrome or run multiple things, you're stretched thin on memory if you're using a memory hog like Chrome or have multiple programs running. The computer will still work fine, just not as quick. I returned the 8GB AMD version and got the business version (8GB i5). The Intel version allows you to disable automatic dimming and gives you a little more usable memory. I'll go for the Surface Laptop 4 and hope everything is fixed by then. ... show more

Had so many issues keeping connected to the internet in multiple different locations. Ultimately returned it because after doing all the trouble shooting I could, I didn’t want to pay to get a brand new laptop “fixed”. Would NOT recommend at all

    • Randomlyl Restarts
Purchased this laptop in Mar 2020 and in the first 2 months of warranty it randomly would restart about once a week. Then over time it started randomly starting with no error message and when calling into customer support they have not resolved the issue even with the new Windows updates and running diagnostics tools and whatever else and ensuring all firm ware was updated. This is a headache to deal with and now it restarts randomly without notice usually in the afternoon between 2 and 4 pm. I have about 10 google chrome tabs only one of which is YouTube and will have Microsoft Word sometimes (even when not it restarts), along with some desktop applications which are low on the processor. Now i'm out $1600 with a defective product that interrupts work flow in the middle of the day. THis is a known issue as over 150 have complained about this and it's suspected that it has something to due with the Ryzen processor as some have exchanged it for one with an Intel processor. BEWARE and get the Intel processor even if it's a little more. ... show more
