These are great quality items in this set, but I’m just too paranoid of my son leaving pieces near the light and potentially causing a fire from the two magnifying pieces. We caught one small bug but unfortunately it needs to be centered in order to look at it up close. My son ended up not closing the compartment fully so the bug escaped. This microscope kit for outdoors is excellent! My son had so much fun looking at bugs/ insects, he even used it for leaves and rocks. Very interesting! It takes photos even without an SD card which is great but the option to add one is there if you want more photo storage. The kit included plenty of accessories like magnifying glass, magnifying cup observer etc. My son is 4 and he was able to use everything with no issues. I love the opportunities this Kigtoy Microscope for Kids, 2.4" IPS Screen Portable Digital Microscope offers to let kids up close to nature - but the most important thing that MUST be stressed along with it's use is responsibility. Capture and observe must always be paired with no harm and careful release. Once you have instilled that lesson - this is a great tool to help kids get close to the smaller world all around us. The ability to link it to a computer screen is nice so you can have a group take part, the capture tools are good quality. The screen on the viewer itself is small and certainly not high resolution - but it does show a nice magnified view. There are quite a few handheld microscope like this available, but this one stands out for its "capture" feature, making it a great value and potential gift. Screen isn't the largest, but it works and is clear. The handle is perfectly sized for kids, and the capture feature works well. Rechargeable.
