The JECONE Binocular Compound Microscope 40-2500X with Mechanical Stages, Slides, & Phone Holder Set is an affordable and complete ready to use compound microscope kit. It comes with a binocular compound microscope and a set of x10 and x25 eye pieces. The eye distance adjuster is an easy to turn switch right in between where the eyes go. The main body is metal, though near all the extrusions and where different sections transition to another section has plastic housing. It is powered by either x3 AAA batteries or wired via USB-C. The vertical adjustment is via the turn dials on either side (both sides are connected and works), though the right side is a bit close to the stage adjustment and may be slightly tight). The spring loaded slide holder works, but sometimes it squeezes the slide too tight and slightly lifts the slide up. I do appreciate having horizontal slide adjustment controls as I can move around every so finely without having to accidentally move the slide too quickly out of place. I did need to clean some smudges on the stage lens and found that the x10 and x100 objective lenses were slightly lower in viewed resolution, but all right at this price range. This set includes 10 premade slides of various specimens (though most are plants, would have liked some more animal or insects in the mix), as well as 10 glass slides and 100 glass covers for DIY homebrew samples. The light source includes both bottom and top lights, both of which are independently controlled and turned on/off exclusively. No carrying storage case, though a simple carrying tote to lug this set around. Overall this is quite a decent kit of compound microscope for basic research and education uses.

This amateur microscope works well for the most part. My biggest complaint is the uncentered objectives. Once you get your view centered on an object, if you change objectives, the object is no longer in view. You must search for it all over again. In a properly aligned microscope you should be able to rotate the turret, to get a different magnification, and the object will still be within view. It comes with two eyepieces (10x, 25x), three objectives (4x, 10x, 100x), 10 specimens on slides (including an ant and a bee leg), blank slides, a phone holder, and an assortment of other goodies. It also came with what looks like a shopping bag. I guess you could use it to cover the microscope to keep dust off. It has two light sources that have adjustable brightness. The unit can be powered by an included AC adaptor (USB-C), OR by 3 AA batteries. The clarity for the 4x and 10x objectives was very clear. The 100x objective was a little fuzzy. So, this is definitely not a professional microscope, but works well for an occasional use for fun.

FANTASTIC MICROSCOPE!! I’ve been missing the old days of microscopes and I saw this! My goal is to teach my grandchildren how to use one. This is a fantastic starter set! This is a solid weight microscope. It seems sturdy for kid use. There are multi prepared slides to get used to it he feel of looking through the microscope and knowing what to look at before you start adding your own slides. Kind of a baseline for the kids who have never looked through a scope before. I’m looking forward to the fun we’ll have collecting specimens and looking at them through the scope!!

I really was excited to get this. I have a lot of different hobbies, and microscopy is one of them. I was impressed with the array of tools, lenses, slides, and features this microscope came with... But, there appears to be a film, where something was wrapped before assembly, that causes film marks in all the slides. It is slide independent, and lens independent, which means it is somewhere in the housing's mirrors. A shame. I really wanted to give this a higher rating, but that is what I received, so that is the rating I have to give it.

I have to say, I was pretty jazzed to received this microscope. However, my daughter who is a Micro-Biology major was over the top with excitement talking about immersion oil, and 100X magnification. I just thought it looked really cool. She already has one that was used for Jr. High, and high school, but this one is more advanced. The JECONE 40- 2500X Binocular Microscope is a really nice, well-made microscope, made of metal, and some plastic. USB powered, it comes with the power block, and cable, and also requires 3 AA batteries. It comes with 10X, and 25X eye pieces, and 4X, 10X, and 100X objective lenses. It comes with a variety of example lenses with all kinds of goodies to example. There is an adapter, that can be used to mount a cell phone for recordings, or pictures. A nice added item. It also includes an accessory case, with useful tools for handling the slides. This is a really nice, quality microscope that my daughter is already using as I type this review. She says it’s not quite the quality of those in her college lab, but it is good quality, easy to set up and use, with sharp images of specimens. It’s an excellent entry level microscope, with great features With her positive review, I would recommend this microscope.
