  • Great value. Great sound
Style: 8-Inch In-Ceiling
If your an average Joe who likes a bargain at a decent price, then these should be your pick. The sound is great for my needs. If your a tech geek you may not like them because they may not produce the sound quality of a two hundred dollar speaker would in your mind, but for the average person who just wants to experience a better Home Theater experience then these are built for you. I was lucky., my home already had speaker cut outs and were pre-wired so the install was easy after a bit of drywall trimming for a proper fit. I paired them to a Sony STR-DH590 receiver and a thrift store bought Pioneer subwoofer. ... show more

  • Great in ceiling speakers.
Style: 8-Inch In-Ceiling
We put 6 of these in our living room. Our house was pre-wired, but the previous owners never put any speakers in. These are affordable and actually sound pretty good. They also almost blend in and are hardly noticeable in our ceiling. We've only had to replace one since 9/2021. I think that one was defective when we first installed it. Movies, regular shows and concerts on tv sound great. ... show more

  • much better than I expected
Style: 8-Inch In-Ceiling
These turned out to be really nice. Quality is high, in my opinion. Price is amazing. I'm using these speakers in my 5.1 surround system. So far, they work and sound perfect. Steve in Arizona

  • How to install the Micca 2-way speaker in a ceiling + My Review
Style: 8-Inch In-Ceiling
See the photos provided. Here are a few tips to make the installation easy. INSTALLATION TIPS 1) use a small hook tool to remove the speaker grills, not a nail 2) use painter's tape to hold the cut-out template to the ceiling; don't use the worthless little sticky tabs provided 3) cut out 2'x2' sheet foam squares to hold the insulation in place above the speakers and to prevent any insulation from getting into the speaker cone, which will vibrate and drive you crazy 4) pre-tap the screws before putting the speaker in place. This helps prevent stripping the phillips screw heads when screwing the speaker clamps in place 5) use a *slightly* damp cloth to wipe dusty finger prints from the speaker cone and ring. be gentle. SPEAKER PROs * inexpensive but not 'cheap'. There's a difference. * they sound decent, maybe a tad mid-high heavy, but the mid-bass frequencies are balanced and clear * can't beat the price for performance factor * easy install - I installed 6 speakers in 4 hours, including set-up, tear-down and clean-up. SPEAKER CONs * they sound decent, maybe a tad mid-high heavy, but the mid-bass frequencies are balanced * they are power-hungry. be sure to use an amp around 75-100 watts. Under-powering these speakers will make them sound faint and will not give the bass, mids and trebles 'punch'. MY THOUGHTS Keep in mind these are in-ceiling/in-wall speakers and unless you encapsulate them in sound boxes (like in-wall speaker cabinets) that are perfectly tuned to the cubic volume to maximize the sound, you will get decent but not 'wow' factor sound. Most installations will be with insulation behind the speaker magnets, which absorb bass reflex sound, which is what my installation was. Despite not giving the speakers a good encapsulated and ported environment, they still sound surprisngly good. If I were to use these for theatre surround sound, I would build ported boxes behind each in the wall or ceiling, acting like a speaker cabinet. Although, surround sound speakers don't do a lot of sound work during movies and live programming, so installing these as true surround sound speakers, I don't think a built-in speaker box is necessary. If these were installed as primary sound driver, yes, I would install speaker boxes behind them. MY REFERENCE POINTS to judge the performance and sound of the MICCA M-8C * I use Sonos products to wirelessly connect the entire home, controlled by the Sonos app on my phone * I have a Sonos Arc, Sonos Sub and two Sonos Ones in our family room. * I have a 9.1 Mirage home theatre system in our media room. (two 5' towers, one center channel, six ceiling mounted surround speakers and one 12" subwoofer). It is powered by a Pioneer SC-61 amp. I use a Sonos Port to connect the home theatre system to the whole house sound solution. * I have two Polk Audio Atrium 6 speakers on the back deck, connected to a Sonos Amp inside, which also powers two of the six Micca in-ceiling speakers, located in our dining room. * I have two Polk Audio Atrium 4 speakers and two 10" passive Synergistic towers in the garage, powered by an old Denon stereo amp. Who doesn't like to listen to the game or rockin' music when working in the garage? * I use a Sonos Amp to power the remaining four Micca in-ceiling speakers in our downstairs bar area. * I have 17 guitars, 6 guitar amps and a plethora of sound gear. I share all this to suggest I have been around 'sound' for a long, long time. There's nothing like a well-mixed live sound, which is my ultimate reference for designing my whole-house sound solution. While I am not an expert, I do like clear, crisp, clean unmuddled sound and I think for the price and for the intended purpose (in-ceiling), the Micca speakers do the trick. I couldn't justify spending $500 on two Bose in-ceiling speakers, for example. ... show more

  • These sound AMAZING. Great buy.
Style: 8-Inch In-Ceiling
I was a bit hesitant based on how inexpensive these are but I bought four for my living room and two for my back patio. I bought the correct sized hole saw on Amazon as well to make like a lot easier cutting accurate holes. I have them hooked to a 100 watt per channel Sony stereo amplifier and I am blown with how good these sound. Normally, ceiling mounted speakers aren't the best for bass, but these are pretty decent. I plan to build .9 cu ft back boxes in the attic to increase the bass a bit, but even without them they sound amazing with pretty good bass response. ... show more

  • Not too shabby
Style: 8-Inch In-Wall
Ive always been one to purchase high quality, rather expensive audio equipment. I only say that as I think it has bearing when I say these (the 8 inch in wall units) don’t sound too bad at all. Surprisingly good actually. I moved into a home that was pre wired for whole house audio in the ceiling. They installed single gang low voltage boxes up against the joists, I think for satellite speakers, or just for code as the previous owner did not have speakers installed. With that, round speakers would fit, but just barely cover the hole from the square cutout left by the single gang rings. I didn’t want to patch the ceiling so rectangular in-wall speakers seemed to be the easiest option. There’s not many relatively inexpensive options for these. Polk has some for about $280 a pair, but I’ve never been a fan of the Polk signature sound. Anyway, this was for an outdoor patio which gets blistering hot in the summer. I was only looking for background music, and I’m worried that nothing will last a very long time with the heat. I decided to take a gamble on these based off the reviews and figuring that I would need to replace them every few years or so. Time will tell on that. I will say that they sound great for background music and instrumental music. Vocals at lower levels are ok, but get rather harsh at higher volumes. Higher frequency sounds, like cymbals are slightly muted and the low end rolls off pretty steep. They are definitely more of an 8 inch midrange speaker vs mid bass. You will want a sub to fill in where these drop off. They have that architectural speaker sound, where instrumentals shine even at higher volumes. So for background or lower volume music you’ll most likely be very happy with these for the price. If you’re wanting to listen to instrumental, or guitar like Santana, Gypsy Kings, etc, even at higher volume’s you’ll most likely be very happy with these for the price. If you’re wanting to blast your favorite rock album, these are too harsh in my opinion. Everyone has different ears though. Bottom line, I think you’d be hard pressed to find anything better at even double the price. ... show more
