Very functional winding tool. It is not perfect, but gave me much more consistent results than hand winding ever has. This winder is very easy to set up and use, but took me a few tries to get my tension right. It cranks smoothly and is pretty quick once you get going. Probably the hardest part for me was finding a table in my house that I could attach it to...our tables either have lips that kept if from sitting straight or I was afraid of damaging them. I finally found that I could just attach it to a cutting board and weight the board on my desk. This has been the perfect tool for getting all my small piles of crochet yarn organized. It now takes up less room and is so much easier to work with when I am ready to start a new project. Great tool for a low price!

This very light weight yarn winder gets the job done! It is very easy to put together. I had to make sure the device was attached very tightly or it would loosen mid spin. It makes smaller cakes but was the perfect size for specialty yarn. I also had to make sure that the yard had some tension while winding it or it would overlap or wind incorrectly.

I have a lot of craft supplies laying around, as well as just balls of random string and yarn. Winding my own ball is pretty time consuming and it's frustrating when you want to pull off a length and the ball rolls off the table and across the floor, and then gets snagged on something of course. I couldn't believe how cool this is. I wish I could go back a few decades and buy one for my mother. It winds a perfect skein, I'm not sure if that's the proper term, but it's just the perfect shape and it dispenses from the middle too, so it doesn't roll away. I thought at first that the winding spool was pretty big, but if you put a little tension on the yarn while you're winding, it closes up after you take it off, it's pretty neat. It came with a couple of nice accessories too, like mini scissors with a safety cap, and a bunch of plastic safety pins to keep the loose ends in place. I tried this a couple of times to get a better feel, and I did have a minor concern that the after a second winding, the yarn was becoming very twisted, but then I realized that this works in both directions, so I re-wound it in the opposite direction and it went back to normal. It's so fast and easy, now I can clean up my box of strings and have a bunch of uniform and professional looking yarn balls LOL. I appreciate the great product.

I am very disappointed with this product, I needed this so badly, but I cannot get it to work right at all it gets Tangled every time I turn it it's just a mess I have tried several different ways it keeps coming unlatched from the table it won't stay connected so I'm very disappointed in this product I will not buy another one of these.

I've been crocheting for over 20 years, and finally decided to get a yarn ball winder to try to keep my yarn stash more organized. This is definitely one of those "Why didn't I get one of these years ago?!" type deals. It works great for loose, partially used skeins. I usually pull those from the middle so they can get kind of messy when they're missing half of their core, but it was easy to wind up by myself into a neat little cake. For yarn that comes twisted in a hank I got one of my daughters to help with the winding while I held the untwisted hank to keep it from getting tangled. Incidentally, both my daughters (12yrs and 10yrs) thought it was fun to wind the yarn and were eager to help! It's not super fancy, but I'm sure this little gadget will get lots of use as I still have lots of yarn messes that need to be wound up into nice, neat little yarn cakes.

I had been hand rolling balls of yarn for about a year when I realized that there MUST be an easier way to do it!! Duh!! I was a beginner, so I didn't have all the "stuff" that most crocheters probably have. As I got better and made more projects, the stuff became more important to me, and I found this MIAOKE Yarn Ball Winder - it's very easy to use, rotates smoothly, and takes no time at all to wind a skein into a ball!! This is a good quality item, and it's a great value for the price. I highly recommend this!

I got so excited when I got this that I plopped down and used it immediately! I felt like the clamp firmly held onto the table, the winder moved easily, and the center dowel didn't move. I worried the whole time that it would pop right out and I would be in tears, but I feel confident that I could use this many times and not worry about it coming apart. I did need to keep one hand on the other side of the metal arm to make sure there was tension on the yarn. The stitch markers and scissors were nice additions that I wasn't expecting, and really didn't need. The markers were not the colors that are in the photos and the scissors are a bit dull. BUT - if I were gifting this to someone who was just getting into yarn crafts, I think it would be perfect.
