I’m very happy with this unit. It is very well made, attractive, and has weight to it as it is made of metal. Easily stores my 5/8” 100 foot hose. Unit stays in place when I pull hose from the unit without tipping. Manual crank to wind hose back in turns easily. Easy to put together, up and working within a half hour installation. I have a 100 gallon water tank indoors and I fill it with a hose I connect to a sink faucet. The water outgo is 5 stage filtered and I use it for everything from cooking food water to drink, or coffee. I fill the 5 gallon bottles for my water cooler for instant hot or cold water. I am happy with how quick and easy it is to deal with a 40' 5/8" potable water hose. This hose reel exceeds my expectations for function and greatly reduces the 'chore' factor for topping off and maintaining my indoor water setup. It is heavy, about 30 pounds, stays put when pulling out the hose. I had a plastic hose reel years ago, decided then that the next one would be metal and heavy duty. It is made very well. It has clean lines, it's attractive and fits my decor well. I had no leaks, but in agreement with other reviewer's suggestions I did use the thick 5.5mm plumber's tape on all threaded fittings. I can sit on it as I wait the 5 minutes when filling a 5 gallon bottle. Now I must get one for outside hose. ... show more

Nice hose reel, solid metal construction, looks nice and the connections are aluminum so should last a long time. The reeling mechanism is cross threaded in a way that it makes it easy to reel in the hose in a uniform manner. Handle has a plastic sleeve making it easy to turn. Really the amount of money this hose real cost this thing is just cheap. While the outside is metal there's a cheap plastic piece that snaps where the hose goes through and it's designed to move back and fourth to distribute the hose evenly on the real. However, it's so flimsy it pops open and doesn't guide back and forth just get stuck on one end. In addition, they've got a cheap same material as a zip tie plastic that's a belt if you will that attaches to a gear on the handle and then a gear on the hose guide but of course that popped off it was a small act of God to get back on because the hose reel doesn't stay closed and the hose got all stuck on the end. the hose guy going back and forth and it keeps getting to the end and the hose guide cheap plastic pops open and doesn't return to the other side. Additionally, where you screw the hose on it's just silver plastic so while the housing is metal and the actual real is metal, the gear unit which is why I bought this thing is made of cheap plastic zip tie looking band and the hose guide is cheap plastic that pops open. ... show more

    • Longer term review.. still buy it!
Easily will hold over 100’ of hose. Solid metal construction, reliable crank assembly and the finish resists weather fading and sun bleaching. I now own three of these. Pricey as H E double toothpicks BUT they are worth it for a long term hose reel. Two draw backs resulting in reduction of one star. Long term issues that occurred 2-4 years; the interior hose connection fitting is made of some sort of cheesy pot metal. Your hose will WELD itself to this connection requiring a torch or other extreme heat source to remove it when the hose needs to be replaced. Use silicone or better dielectric grease (silicone) to assemble the hose to the fitting. I learned the hard way. #2; the legs are weak. They WILL bend through movement of the reel, pulling the hose out all the way and tipping the box or not setting it down perfectly flat while moving it or taking it in for the winter. I have hammered the legs back to straight on all of my two older boxes more than once over time. DO BETTER! It’s a $200 box! That leads me to my own Hack for this box and its legs. Use the same silicone grease on the leg screws when you install them. It will save much heartache and “busted knuckles” when you inevitably have to remove the legs to hammer them back to straight. ... show more

I purchased three of the AQUAZILLA Metal Garden Hose Reel Deck Boxes and have been extremely happy with them. These are very well designed, sturdy, and practical for everyday use. The hose reels roll smoothly and make winding the hose quick and easy, even with daily use. One of the things I appreciate most is how attractive they look on the property. Instead of having hoses laying around, everything stays neat and organized while still looking stylish and high-end outdoors. The durable steel construction has also held up incredibly well through different weather conditions. After regular exposure to sun, rain, and daily use, they still look great and function perfectly.
