Not the same as the original Moab GTX
Size: 10
Color: Black/Black
This is the 5th pair of Moabs I have owned. The first 3 were the original moab GTX. The fit perfect. I have now ordered the Moab 2 waterproof and Moab 2 GTX. The both are more narrow and not as long as the old version. These were my favorite shoes for hiking and around the town in the winter. I now have to find a new brand.

Poor quality and construction
Size: 12
Color: Earth
Very disappointed in the longevity of this product and can only give this boot 2 stars due to significant quality and wearability issues. I have purchased and enjoyed the comfort of many Merrell hiking shoes over the years, however, this was the first one I ordered with GORE-TEX. I am a medium width size 12 and the boot fit, arch support and right out of the box comfort is great. No break-in period needed. Unfortunately, they barely made it through six months before the upper started separating from the sole (both shoes) and the rubber toe piece started degrading at the bend point of the toe….. exactly the place where a boot like this should be strongest!! Seems to me that such poor construction completely defeats the purpose of purchasing a more expensive boot with the GORE-TEX waterproof membrane. It's too bad Merrell can't build a shoe that lasts longer and shame on Merrell for selling a $140 (Retail) hiking boot that lasts less than a single season. Save your hard-earned money and buy something from another maker like Vasque, Oboz, Keen or Solomon. I’ll bet that even comparable Hi-Tec or Karrimor brand hiking boots would last longer at half the price. There are plenty of other options out there that are of higher quality and last!

Oh, the SMELL!! It's HORRIBLE!!
Size: 10
Color: Earth
Been happily wearing this exact series for years. This is still the GORE-TEX version made in Viet Nam. Fits true, and looks identical to prior pairs. BUT, THE ODOR/SMELL of these is HORRIFIC! I have no idea how the manufacturing process may have changed or possibly where they've been warehoused/stored, but there's a VERY offensive smell that is not getting any better. Going to give them a couple more days to air out, but if it doesn't improve these are going to be returned. I can't stand the smell, and certainly I can't wear them anywhere there will be other people around. Yuck! Also discovered this pair, unlike any of the identical pairs before, make a sound with each step like a rubber boot full of water. Disturbing and hysterical at the same time. *** UPDATE *** Returned for refund. Smell never went away.

Spot on!
Size: 11.5 Wide
Color: Beluga
These fit like Merrell's (wide sizes, anyway) should - a bit of an open toebox, decent arch support (this is hit or miss with other Merrell shoes I've purchased), fits true to size compared to other Merrell shoes I've owned and overall is a very comforable shoe. Like any good shoe they will probably have a moderate break-in period for most folks but so far I'm quite pleased. I've used them for vigorous hiking, jogging (downhill and on flat stretches of dirt and pavement) and playing with my son in the snow. My feet had become buried in snow multiple times and the shoe never soaked through so their waterproof qualities appear to be adequate.

Great shoes, but with the worst insole inserts.
Size: 12
Color: Earth
Merells have always been my favorite. They always fit well and last longer than many other brands... HOWEVER, the included inserts are absolutely worse than useless. For the past decade, every pair of Mereels I've owned has had the same issue. The cheap cardboard insoles bend and fold, and always come out with your foot for a few weeks until they are so loose and creased as to be useless. I wouldn't mind spending a little more on these shoes if it meant I wouldn't have to spend $10-$15 extra to buy a decent insole insert. These are so consistently bad that it should be mentioned in the product description... Attention buyers... just go ahead and order the insoles for these now, you will 100% need them.

Best Everyday Shoe on the Market!
Size: 11
Color: Earth
I have owned Merrell MOAB shoes for the past 10 years (3 different pairs), and will continue to buy them for as long as they make them without changes. They wear extremely well, have excellent support and comfort, and fit my foot superbly. This review is for the Gortex version of the shoe. I also ordered and tried at the same time the "Waterproof" version of the shoe and it fit too snugly and was heavier than this Gortex shoe. I sent the Waterproof one back, and kept this one that I now wear every day. Wonderful shoe! Try a pair and treat yourself to real comfort. These are not waterproof in the sense that you can go through standing water, but will keep your feet dry through damp conditions. Also stays pretty comfortable in hot weather.

True Gortex Waterproof Shoe
Size: 11
Color: Beluga
I wanted to have a hiking/touring shoe for travel that was waterproof. Having been in downpours in New York, Budapest and Madrid, I thought it was time to get footwear that kept my feet dry. I originally ordered a Merrell Men's Moab Edge 2 Waterproof Sneaker, a similar product, but learned that these employed Merrel's own (not Gortex) waterproofing system, which apparently is experiencing some water defects, in part due to deficiencies in a new plant in China. The Merrell Men's Moab 2 GTX Hiking Shoe uses the tried-and-true Gortex system, and the shoe is fabricated in an established Chinese plant. These shoes seem to have far fewer issues then the Moab Edge. While I have not yet tested them in a hard rain (hence the 4 stars for now) they fit beautifully. Since I also use touring shoes in the gym while travelling, these performed great on the elliptical - no discomfort. In other words, these shoes seem to be just what I need, but their waterproof performance has yet to be tested.

Not worth a dime!!!!!
Size: 9.5
Color: Earth
Bought these in May 2020 and they are already falling apart. Looks like there is no glue holding the shoe to the soul. That is pathetic for a shoe that cost this much to last less than 6 months. Merrill should be ashamed to sell this for any price!!!!
