Good cover, spine and page quality. Layout and design is good for a single character not multiple. This is a book for 1 campaign. The layout is designed in a way if you organize well you shouldn't need to flip around everywhere for combat. Note taking is easy and organized as well as having different type for things such as drawing out crude maps of dungeons and so on. The bad. This is really only for one character so when your campaign ends or character dies. Unless you got a big eraser and time to clear every little bit this book become more of a memento of your time playing. The barcode on the back is printed on and cant be removed. All in all great book and my only recommendation for someone who gets it is to get some tabs to mark sections of your book for quick jumps through notes. Best campaign journal I've found so far that isn't a handmade fortune. ... show more

I rather like this notebook! The cover is so pretty, and has such a lovely velvety-soft texture that really adds to the look of it. It's lightweight, the perfect size, and despite it's looks it's not too ornate or fragile to just chuck into my play bag. Inside, I love that there are specific pages for the common things you'd want to keep track of as a player, as well as a table of contents you can label as needed--I'm still kind of new to tabletop games, so this will really help me organize my notes and inventory. I previously used regular notepads and my notes are all disasters because I don't know where anything is, and I often have to dang near re-read the whole thing to find some random thing I wrote down, IF I remembered to write it. The only feature that this notebook doesn't have that I wish it did was maybe a spiral binding, so it's easier to keep open for writing. Overall, this is a really good tool for a nice price, especially for a newish player like me. ... show more

I like the texture, and I like some of the pages -- especially the Table of Contents set-up, as well as the 5 character sheets (expanded). One thing I don't understand is the printed UPC label. You have this beautifully, well-put together notebook and then the upc label is printed and not a sticker? I don't get that. ... show more

    • Awesome product with one teeny nitpick
Much nicer than I expected and there are some really neat pages, such as blocks for spell/ability info and graph paper for maps. Minor critique, all of the character sheets after the first are lumped together at the rear of the book, with no additional pages for their skill/ability blocks or notes. Would be very worth it to pay a few bucks more for an extra 5-10 or so leaves between each of these characters. Still gets 5 stars, great product for players that love fleshing out their character and taking notes. ... show more

I just ordered this and I love it. I think the page designs are beautiful and pencil erases great on the paper, so you can easily change your character stats as the story progresses. It is a soft cover and it does not lay flat unless you fold back the spine, so you get a little bit of bending open in the front cover when the book is closed, but all of my paperbacks do that, so I don’t think this is a quality issue. The cover itself feels a little thicker and waxier than a standard paperback book, so I’m not worried about a spill deforming the cover. There is a bar code printed directly on the back cover, but personally, that doesn’t bother me at all, I don’t look at the back. For the price, I feel like this is extremely high quality design and paper and I’m really excited to start using it for my next campaign. ... show more

Absolutely an amazing purchase. The journal is well constructed and feels more than solid in the hand. The cover art is beautiful. Inside the covers though is where the magic happens. Character sheets and background sections allow for easy reference for the player during a session and the volume of pages for notes is perfect. But what tops it off is the table of contents section. Everything is clearly printed telling you where all the major sections are, but there is a staggering amount of blank lines in the ToC that gives you a way to make page number references for important notes that are made as the campaign continues. No more thumbing through looking for the notes you took when confronting the swamp hag and learning of the secret riddle of the demon tree...now you can jump right to the info you need and get right back to gaming with friends. 10/10 I bought 4 of them. ... show more

I love this journal so much!! I like having everything mapped out so I can reference it during a session. I take notes on a notepad for the session and go back later and rewrite them in the journal to be more clear and concise. I also like that it has lined pages for notes but also graph paper that I use for drawing maps! It’s a bit bigger than I expected but I don’t mind it! ... show more

    • Book great, delivery lacking
I bought this for others in the group who don’t have one. It’s a good basic journal, not too fancy and not expensive. I like it. That said Amazon prime elected to package two of these along with a book in a thin paper recycling bag which doesn’t protect from water. I live in a humid area and this stayed over night on a covered porch and got good and damp and wrinkled the pages. Not good Amazon, at least put some plastic wrap around it. ... show more
