I did not realize I was going to have to build the little incubator. It wasn't difficult just unexpected. The top does not fit on it I had to duct tape it in place. It works well and keeps the temperature circulated but it is practically disposable.

I mean, the machine does a lot of the work but we were consistently checking up on things and making sure we were doing everything correctly and everything was working correctly as well. I have had different incubators before, and I have to say that this one is the worst of all. Very disappointed with this product for several reasons. 1- you have to set up the clear box with screws. The package comes with a second set of screws that the instructions don’t explain how to use them. So I am wondering if I a missing something with those extra screws. 2- it does not keep the heat steady inside the incubator, why? Because the product is so badly designed that all the edges of the transparent box are not tight enough, and the box doesn’t fit perfectly, leaving gaps between the box and the base. The solution they give you in the instructions is to leave the styrofoam that came in the box around the product, and to cover it with a towel or peace of fabric. Really??? 3- it does not show you the actual humidity inside the incubator. 4- it comes with 3 external water hoses/bases to add 3 coca-cola bottles with water; however, the instructions say to use bottle 1 during the first 18 days and add bottle 2 during days 19-21, and that bottle 3 doesn’t need to be added ever. Then my question is: why do you create a product when you are never going to need part of it? 5- there’s a wire (for the rotating tubes) that is not hidden and stays in the middle of the incubator. I feel like the chicks are at risk of getting entangled in this wire and suffocating, hence dying. I can keep going, there are many more bad things to add, but I hope at this point you, my fellow buyer, are convinced that this is not a good product to buy. We've bought chicks from the local farm store for years. We tried years ago to borrow an incubator and get some fertile eggs. It was a big flop. Most of the eggs weren't fertile, we found out, and the few that were didn't make it. Probably because there was so much to it that we might have missed something. That's what makes this incubator so helpful. It takes away most of the guesswork. We still had to watch the humidity because it would go way up suddenly. Where we live, we didn't need to keep a water bottle on the incubator. I would just use a dropper and add a little at a time to try and keep the humidity around 50%. A couple of our chicks were born with problems and research said that it was probably caused by too high of humidity. Second batch was set at 45% and seemed to do better. Other than that, the egg turning is automatic, the temperature is also automatically kept at the right place. So much easier than the old setup we tried. Phew! Now our chicks are grown up and beautiful and we're looking forward to when they start laying. ... show more

I got this to see if we can hatch some eggs from the local farm. I saw a youtube video that shows how 1 in a dozen eggs may be fertilized and the local farm we get eggs from sell the chicks too. This was worth a go. Opened and set up the box - not yet tried it out apart from briefly turning it on. Will update this review if there are any issues. ... show more

This is not for the first-timer or non-handy. Too complicated to setup, maintain, and ensure proper temperature and hydration. There are far less complicated and more consistent ways to get eggs incubating with a lot less hassle and headache.

This comes with instructions, and it's even preset to 100f for chicken eggs (the second 0 in 100f is little on the display, don't let that fool you) and it tells me the whole procedure about when to light them (it has a built in light on top) and when I must mist them. I've never seen an incubator with a water bottle attachment that's pretty neat but it doesn't come with the water bottle. The white mesh thing doesn't fit and needed to be cut to size. I've tested the temperature with a baking thermometer and it's very good at maintaining the temperature. Automatically turns the eggs, so it all comes down to the eggs now whether they will hatch or not is up to them. This thing is doing it's job. Or rather, doing the hen's job. I have a hen setting/brooding on some eggs already, figured I would get this incubator in case nobody ever wants to set, I'm just testing it out with 5 eggs but more could definitely fit. Next I need to get myself a battery backup in case the electricity goes out. You never know. ... show more
