I needed a guard for a thin VG1 blade that's a bit shorter than 8" that I use at the office so the 1.5 inch one at that length was perfect for only three bucks. I don't know how this compares with other products but it's just held by tension, I guess time will tell if it becomes loose though I suppose it could always be used on a thicker blade knife if that happens. ... show more

Have a Tramonta Stainless steel Paring knife, that never had a sheath, I kept in my Work Laptop bag for cutting apples, Avocados, starting oranges.... Good protection for the edge of Mercer knifes. I would have given it 5 stars, but it's a bit hard to put on one of their thicker single bevel knives. So you have to be real careful not to let your hand slip and hit exposed blade edge while putting it on.

I like the fact that the knife guards keep my fingers from accidentally grabbing the sharp edges of my knives as I search for them in my crowded kitchen drawers. They grip the knives gently so the don't slip off accidentally. They are made of sturdy plastic so they should last a long time.

I keep replacing my old, dull, ancient knives with new sharp ones. Which means, if I donā€™t want to bleed a lot, I need knife sheaths. I like Mercer knife guards because they come in a variety of sizes and, quite often, they come pre-cut at an angle for your knife. If they arenā€™t cut, they are easy enough to cut. A definite must buy if you want to keep your new sharp knives sharp. Also, donā€™t put your knives in the dishwasher! Thatā€™s a fast way to dull them. ... show more
