This took about 10 hours to build by myself. It likely will take less time if you build it with someone else. You will need several things. A hand drill a furniture mallet, furniture straps and a wrench set. Use the furniture straps to hold together the door of the bed together when assembling it. It will make it easier. The quality of the wood is better than a similar priced one I got a while back from Wayfair. It also shipped much faster than I was expecting four stars. ... show more

This is far from a simple project to assemble. The biggest flaw, is the holes drilled for the cams are too far away from the edges for the supplied bolts to catch. At best, some bolts only engage two complete threads. Others would spin. I solved this problem by countersinking the bolt holes wide enough for the bolt heads to sink in where I could, some pieces of wood were not wide enough for me to countersink without ripping the edge. Ironically, where there is too little play with the bolts, there is way too much wiggle room assembling the front panel that hides the mattress. The grooves cut on the slats are too deep for the panels and they were nearly impossible to keep in place while assembling. I resorted to building a support to hold the panel underneath and placing tiedowns and weights around it while fastening it to the frame. Naturally the second I folded it up each of the end panels popped out. Oh well, its not worth the frustration to fix. This is the grey color, under bright white LED it has a greenish tint to it. Lastly, the two foldout legs that support the end of the mattress while unfolded do not rest flattly when there is weight (140 lbs) on the bed. I like how it looks, but with the time that went into it, I'd almost have been better off building one from scratch. ... show more

Took quite some time (7 hours) to assemble and two people to do it. But it’s as advertised! The platform works well as a bed and the sofa is comfortable for short periods of sitting. Works well in our office.
