  • Super easy assembly
Most things including exercise equipment come with a number of hard parts and a bag or box of hardware. This one has the hardware more or less pre-assembled where it's needed, so you take it off one hard part, connect it to another hard part, and reassemble the hardware. It doesn't have to be labeled, it comes with the large parts. The hardware is good quality and for this assembly I even used the provided Allen keys. No need to fire up the drill. I did apply some grease on the adjustable handlebar that slides into the frame and onto the nut that one loosens to adjust that, because those will be changed regularly and because I don't like squeaking or creaking when pressure is exerted on the handlebars. The computer counts time and repetitions and supposedly calories burned, via some simple conversion formula. To me as an old bike rider, it's more of a stretching exercise against moderate resistance, to get the blood pumping, which is what I wanted from this machine. I never disconnect any of the three bands. It's packed super well and arrived in perfect condition. This piece should be very durable, although I imagine the elastic bands might need periodic replacement or attachment of additional elastic in parallel to tighten it up. ... show more

  • Good but monotonous workout, easy to assemble
The Merach squat rower arrived partially assembled in a small, long, narrow box. Assembly Assembly is easy, if a bit tedious, by following the printed (no text) instructions or watching the assembly video (use the QR code or do an internet search to find this). The only tools required are an Allen wrench and a cross spanned, which are included. Several nuts and bolts need to be unscrewed and then the appropriate part placed, then inserted and tightened. I could not tell the difference between the front and rear tubes, and think I got these reversed, but that doesn’t seem to matter. The height of the handle bar, seat, and seat distance from the body are adjustable to accommodate your size. Resistance is provided by attached cables to the back of the seat, 1 is the lightest and 3 is the most resistance. This can also be used without any cables for beginners. The pedals have slots for straps to keep your feet on, but straps are not included. Using the squat rower This seems solid and stable. It is easy to get on and off. Set the seat at a 90 degree angle to the floor for beginners and for shallow squats, the seat can be lowered for deeper squats for more advanced users. To be honest, this is a monotonous workout. You squat and that’s it. During a workout, one can add variety squatting faster for shallow squats mixed with slower for deeper squats. That’s about it. Good to use while watching TV or listening to music. You could also have a routine alternating using the squat rower with other equipment like an exercise bike and/or treadmill, along with intervals of floor exercises. This is a good workout for the quads, glutes, even chest, arms, and abs. You can get a good cardio workout by incorporating faster, shallower squats. Unfortunately, I found the seat to be rather uncomfortable. Wearing biking shorts might help with this. Overall, I’m not sure why this a squat rower is needed versus just doing regular squats by standing on the floor and squatting. You can vary the depth of your squats and the speed using the old fashioned method. Holding dumbbells, you can do dumbbell curls while squatting. Or you can put a barbell over your shoulders and do squats that way. Beginners can stand in front of a chair while squatting to prevent squatting too low and for resting. Tip: There are a number of squat rower workout videos online for other brands of squat rowers. These can be used with the Merach 07 squat rower just fine. Excellent value for a solid piece of exercise equipment, but I’m not sure this is superior to just doing standing squats. ... show more

  • Gym baddie at home
If you want to get into shape but do not want to go to the gym, this is a good machine for you. The machine is easy to set up in no time. But you can literally work out while watching tv is the fun part. As humans we have to have something to stimulate us while we are “working / working out”. This machine allows you to put it in your living room and watch tv while getting yourself in shape. I love how this is lightweight to move but also sturdy when I am using it. This is getting my legs more toned with me just simply doing the same movement over and over. I also think if someone can not squat on their own then this machine will be a great step for them. ... show more

  • great machine.
For me, this is a great machine. assembly was easy and straight forward. I've had bad knees all my life due to a medical issue when i was young that plagued both of them, so to be able to do squats with great form and still get the strengthening in without worrying about if my knees will come out of socket to me is a huge deal. Even for those without the medical issue that I have this is still great for the exercises allowed. ... show more
