I bought this jacket for my son. It’s really well made, the stitching and binding are strong and the coat looks great on & keeps you warm. I saw that people had suggested ordering up a size. I wish I hadn’t. My son is 6’ tall & 204 lbs. The XL is very roomy.

This is a great coat for the price. The design is nice, the construction is good. The materials are decent. I took it out for a one mile walk, it's 28° out, with a steady 16mph wind. I only had on a Tee and a light knit underneath, and the jacket kept me adequately warm. But there are some negatives. Firstly, the zipper is left-handed. It's unwieldy to operate, especially because the cover flap, is also on the left and gets in the way. Also, I wonder about the zipper's quality, as it's been a little tricky to engage correctly. But I expect it will wear in and I will get used to the mechanics of the handing. The hood hyper-extends a bit at the top, which will be nice against falling snow. It also has a drawloop on each side, and when pulled snug the hood becomes quite warm. The drawloops can lock in the drawn position. But it would have been much better and more natural to have them lock when pulled down, and release when pulled up, the opposite of the way it is set up. This orientation flaw echoes the wrong-handed zipper. The interior of the hood is plain polyester fabric, not fur; it is not soft. This means that when the hood is up it rubs against the ears noisily. Adding some winter wind noise into the equation and it is hard to hear anything, including nearby traffic. That can be a serious safety concern for road walkers. I also wish the hood were detachable, because it's quite bulky when not in use. That would make the coat serviceable over a much longer season. There are no washing instructions on the inner label, so you may want to keep your tags. This coat is not perfect, but at this price point it's quite good. I think I will keep this coat. UPDATE: I've decided to return the coat. I perceived that I would get used to the zipper. It would never be a good thing, but it would become smooth to me. But what I wouldn't get used to is the bulky hood. It refuses to lie flat and forms a 4" high cowl behind the neck. That's fine if you're on the slopes or in frigid weather, but it seriously limits the usability of the coat in other weather. I need something with a more moderate design. Too bad, it's a great coat in many ways. They should give the design a little more thought.
