Soft yet firm. Very comfortable. I have Fibromyalgia and constant muscle pain. Sleeping on this bed topper on top of a memory foam mattress is so comfortable and I don't have as much pain when I wake up in the morning. This topper has really helped to soften my firm foam mattress. It gives just enough to make my sleeping better. I am short(5') and still have to fight to get in bed,but now it's softer when I get there. It is cooler than the main mattress, but I still wake up sweated.
