We have our bed on a sturdy heavy metal platform frame. We wanted to lift it higher with more support. So, I looked around for a traditional wood box springs. I couldn't find one for less than $220, which is a ridiculous amount to pay for a few pieces of wood with a plain cover. We almost built our own for less than $70. But I found this metal frame and it was a great compromise and ok price. Plus, it breaks down easily into small parts. So, we can take it with us if we move. It is very sturdy and fits perfectly. After sending the wrong item, Amazon quickly fixed the problem and sent the box spring within a few days. I was on a tight schedule to get this bed set up for my 97-year old mother who came to stay with us for a month. So kudos for how quickly they responded and fixed the problem. I looked long and hard for the "perfect" box spring for my 97-year old mom. There were so many different features I felt she needed and this one fit the bill perfectly! It's the only one with a fabric cover, which gives it a nice finished look. At least one reviewer said to lay out all the pieces before putting it together, so I did that. GREAT SUGGESTION! It made putting the bed together much easier than if the parts had been scattered all over the floor. Once you figure out the difference between the "H" shaped pieces (take a good look at the illustrations in the instructions), how it fits together pretty much makes sense. I put it together myself in about a half hour. The only thing I did was ask my husband (who is about twice my size!! LOL) to tighten all the screws, etc. Once we put the mattress on it, we laid down on it to make sure it felt sturdy and stable. I was a little concerned that the mattress would slip and slide, but that hasn't been an issue. I would maybe suggest a more "gripping" type of fabric for the side that touches the mattress, or slightly raised lips around the metal frame to hold the mattress more securely. Sturdy and well made, but see those legs in the picture? Not included. It doesn't even have a hole to screw your own legs in. It's resting on the floor until i can buy a bed frame. Kinda deceptive.

It's not bad for basement bedrooms. Had to buy this because a queen size box spring would not fit down the basement. Makes a little bit of noise but throw some foam around the edging get rid of the squeaking.

All of the holes for two steps were difficult to line up and one of them wasn't even drilled in the correct spot. Ended up stripping the hex key and one bolt, and rounding off the threads of another. Pic is how far we could get it in the hole.

This replaced my box spring that had came with my heavy foam mattress that had broke. A few areas needed a rubber mallet to finesse but it was easy to figure out how to put it together. Only complaint was one of the middle support was missing a foam sticker that prevents noise and therefore the slats on that end didn’t touch till weight was on it which would cause a creek. To remedy that I cut some of the cardboard box and wedged it in between and it fixed it. I also opened the box to lay it flat on top before putting the cover on just for more surface protection to keep my mattress from sagging in between (not sure if it was necessary or not, didn’t want to have to pull my heavy mattress off again!).
