Description

3M Accuspray Spray Gun System with Original PPS is a convenient all-in-one solution for measuring, mixing, filtering and spraying paint materials. The system features the Accuspray HVLP Spray Gun, a lightweight composite spray gun body molded in one piece, eliminating the complexity, wear and cleaning of small parts and components. Atomizing heads can be used 5 to 10 times, then removed and replaced, giving you the performance of a new gun on demand and at a fraction of the cost. This Accuspray gun works with original PPS or PPS 2.0 paint cups and disposable lids, liners and nozzles. Unlike conventional aluminum or other metal paint cup systems, with PPS you don’t have to mix paint in extra cups and filter it into a paint reservoir, so you waste less paint. Simply place a liner in the reusable paint cup, mix the paint, snap on the lid, attach the locking collar and you’re ready to spray. With a fresh lid and liner for each mix, there’s less risk of outside contamination. You can also increase productivity in prep and cleanup time by as much as 50% and use up to 70% less cleaning solvent over conventional paint cup systems. All- inclusive kit includes 1 Accuspray spray gun, 4 nozzles (1.2 mm, 1.3 mm, 1.4 mm, 1.8 mm), 1 plastic paint cup, 1 collar, 5 disposable lids (4 with 200-micron filter, 1 with 125-micron filter), 5 disposable liners, 1 mix ratio insert and sealing plugs. Air compressor and hose coupler not included.

  • Great product - lousy instructions
Style: 3M 16580 Accuspray Spray Gun System
This works extremely well. I will save a considerable sum on paint because it sprays so efficiently. The instructions are awful. Let me repeat - the instructions are awful. Did I mention the instructions are awful? It exclaims it's meant for professional use, so I assume they assume you already know how these upper end guns work. I'm going to call 3M as I got the air pressure set by trial and error. The gauge they give you is worthless in my estimation but then I may not understand how to use it properly; an instruction issue. The mixing sleeve is also worthless to me because I don't know how to properly use it either. That's call #2 to 3M. If you're going to purchase this, you might as well get a boat load of those thin inserts and caps with the filter built in. You get 5 and realistically each insert / cap combination is good for one painting session. I mixed up paint and thinner at a 4:1 ratio using the oz scale in the mixing insert as my paint had no instructions for using it with a spray gun. All the other scales on the mixing insert are a mystery to me. If you mix up a batch and run out while spraying, you can reuse the insert and cap for some additional spraying if you use some common sense. The insert will be collapsed, so just use a screwdriver, etc to push it back down to resemble what it looked like when you started. Rinse the inside of the cap filter with some thinner to remove the crud that it caught before it entered the spray stream. Now mix and reuse as normal. Be forewarned that the insert won't be perfectly flat after a use, so the the mixing scale will be slightly off. Unless you're painting a Mona Lisa don't fret it. The 1.4 head is the only one I used for a steel primer and paint afterwards. I ordered a box of 1.4 heads because I suspected that's what I would end up using and I was correct. I sprayed two steel structures with primer one day, and cleaned the head. The next day, I used the same head to spray black enamel for one structure and then cleaned it again and sprayed white enamel for the other structure. It worked great. The gun is real easy to keep clean and the consumables on it are reasonable in cost. ... show more

  • Check your cfm rating
Style: 3M 16580 Accuspray Spray Gun System
The gun performs as it should and for the right application it’s probably awesome but I’d like to save anyone the trouble I had. I bought this gun for refinishing cabinets as a professional painter. I spray oil based primer (which should not be thinned) and Alkyd based resin (aristoshield). I have a 30 gal compressor with 8.6cfm at 60psi (Lower than manufacturer recommended CFm rating). I thinned to max specs for my paint and got it to atomize quite well however it just does not push out the volume I need. I had the air cranked to 60psi just to get it to atomize well and at that psi it left a peppery texture. Also my compressor would kick on every minute or two making it hard to continuously spray without having sheen issues. Ended up switching to a fine finish low pressure tip on an airless. Perhaps with a better compressor this thing would put out more material so definitely check your cfm rating. It is amazingly efficient with low paint consumption and super easy to clean and use. I’ll give it another try and perhaps upgrade my compressor. For a homeowner with small projects this gun would rock with the right cfm. For multiple cabinet banks in a day I’ll stick with the airless. ... show more

  • Homebrew paintjob exceeded expectations!
Style: 3M 16580 Accuspray Spray Gun System
I hit a deer with my work beater car a few weeks ago. The cost to have it repaired at a body shop would have been nearly the value of the car. Being that I'm pretty handy and have a background in such things, I decided to fix it myself. I bought a hood, both fenders, the bumper and a pair of headlights on the internet. I then started researching spray guns. It turns out there's about a billion of them. I was warned by a friend who's a pro not to buy a cheapie or I'd regret it. I chose this one and I'm glad I did. I used the 1.8 tip to spray the primer and the 1.4 to spray the base and clear. Everything laid down flat and smooth. The paint job looks way better than I thought possible. Now I'm making plans to do some repairs on my pickup! It's really easy to clean, I mean REALLY easy to clean. The lid and liner go in the trash and it just takes a couple teasoons of solvent to clean the tip. Buying a full box of lids and liners sucks but I have a lifetime supply now. Definitely a solid product ... show more

  • Worked well
Style: 3M 16580 Accuspray Spray Gun System
Worked well, I have never used a spray gun before, this seemed to work well, when using paint with a hardener, way better that rattle can, way better, got a little orange peel, but that was the first time and still better than rattle can, if you are painting a whole car this is cheaper and better paint, last time I used rattle can to paint a bug it took 20+ cand of paint + primer. I would recommend painting the entire car at once so the cleaning is limited, I only painted what I need to install windows and will finish the rest later, not the best way but, the only way I can get it done. ... show more

  • Virtually ready to paint out the box
Style: 3M 16580 Accuspray Spray Gun System
Im a first time car painter and this thing value for the money ready to shoot paint out the box amazing! I was going to buy a Satajet 5000 for $650 that only sprayed clear coat instead I painted my entire car from start to finish (3 stage primer/sealer, Base color, and clear) with 1 spray gun thats to the interchangeable tips. Look no further this is the one you want. Cleans very easy and has the liners you just throw away. Bring enough liners to paint your car but after you would have to buy more. The liner caps have built in filter screens so even if you get some debris in the paint mix it wont clog the gun or end up on your work piece. I have a cheap harbor freight gun bud decided to do the entire project using only this spray gun kits. One you get the hang of what the adjustment knobs do to pattern and flow its a breeze i cant wait to paint another car!! ... show more
