  • WOW-WOW-WOW !!!
Size: MK-D850 PRO
This is one review I am actually VERY happy to write. I waited until ample time had past to be sure I could write an honest review on this product. I attached it to my Nikon D850 hoping it would "super-charge" the D850 to match the the rumors I have been reading about how a Nikon battery grip + large battery, etc. does for a D850 by so many photographers. As much as I wanted the better performance for my D850 I could not bring myself to spend almost a $1,000 on a Nikon battery grip + the large battery + the end. Then someone told me about this Meike brand. I watched a video by a photographer, in which he checked to see if the Meike grip actually worked as promised. In fact I watched it several times. I also read many articles about this Meike battery grip and many, many reviews. After doing all this and considering I could possibly get my D850 "super-charger" (grip, one large battery & required end) for a little over $200 via Amazon I went for it. I cannot write how happy I am with the results it made. EVERYTHING seems to work better in my D850; faster focusing, the image stabilization on lens that have it seems to working better, and YES, the D850 can now shoot 9 Frames Per Second. No question about it. This is a FANTASTIC deal. Go for it if you have a D850. Bill ... show more

  • Pleasantly Surprised
Size: MK-D850 PRO
Was skeptical when I went to buy the Meike D850 Power Grip as it is $300 less than the Nikon version and the Meike has a wireless remote control the Nikon does not have. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the unit and even happier when it fit nice and tight to the bottom of my D850 with no wiggling or play. The controls are in the same place as the Nikon version and have a nice positive feel responding well to my touch. It took a while to figure out how to make the remote control work as the user guide is close to useless (that's why 4 instead of 5 stars), but once I got it working, it's great! The only complaint I have about the remote is that it doesn't have a power switch, so once you put in the batteries, its stays on. One thing makes me uncomfortable. It is obvious they reverse engineered the Nikon equivalent and just plain copied it right down to how the battery compartments look and function. As an engineer, I don't condone copying other engineer's work, but the $300 difference indicates Nikon pricing is unrealistic. Nikon would do well to add the wireless remote to it's unit and drop the price to stay competitive. I highly recommend the Meike D850 Power Group over the Nikon version. ... show more

  • Works perfectly on my D850, and I like having the remote!
Size: MK-D850 PRO
Works 100% with my D850 and gives me 9fps using a Nikon EN-EL 18c battery. I chose this because of the built-in receiver for their included radio controlled transmitter for wireless operation. The only reason I can think of to go with Nikon is if you want all the buttons and textures to feel the same as those on your camera. The main difference is the shutter release and style of joystick. The shutter release clicks softly when you take a picture. Makes no difference to me. The only Nikon part I bought is the battery. I don't trust 3rd party batteries, and I have tried many over the last couple of decades including Wasabi. Name brand batteries are more reliable, last practically forever and last longer per charge. This has been my experience with Nikon, Sony, GoPro, Fujifilm, and others. Be sure to get ASIN B00FDD40AA for the battery (DSTE version of the BL-5) and the Wasabi charger. ... show more

  • A nice alternative to the Nikon Battery Grip at 1/4 of the price.
Size: MK-D850 PRO
At first I wasn't sure how I felt about the Meike Battery Grip for the Nikon D850. It felt more fragile than what I remember my old Nikon grips felt like. Upon inspection of Nikon's grip. I think the Meike build quality is better than I gave it credit. Functionally, it operates as well as the Nikon grip, providing 9 fps. when using the Pro sized batteries. The dial and button doesn't have that nice rubberized feel of the Nikon grip, but it's not bad either. The remote is a nice addition and works well once I figured how to pair it with the grip. A bonus for me is that my Kirk Arca L-Bracket for the D800/D810 battery grip fit the Meike grip snugly (although it will not fit the Nikon D850 grip). That saved an additional $150 to $190 for a new L-Bracket. ... show more

  • grip seems like great quality, 5 stars. remote 3 stars. 4 stars overall happy.
Size: MK-D850 PRO
really like the feel of this grip. bought it because was photographing a friend's wedding and only have 2 oem nikon batteries. buying a third battery was about the same cost as a vertical grip that allows me to use AA batteries. 8x AA white eneloop are 18w vs 14w for an en-el15a battery. decided to spend a bit more and get the grip with a remote. the remote doesn't have an on/off switch so it just stays on all the time. remote also resets time whenever you remove the batteries even for a second to change them (not sure how long batteries last) or take them out so it doesn't take random pictures. will probably find some sort of tube to put the remote in, or just take out batteries. really happy with the purchase overall. ... show more

  • Skip the OEM - This is better.
Size: MK-D850 PRO
This is essentially better than the OEM version, which I returned. With the en-el18b battery you will get 9 FPS, BUT you must use the 3rd party battery cover. For some reason the Nikon cover doesn't give the 9 FPS. The build feels excellent and the shutter button is MUCH nicer than the Nikon mushy button on the OEM. The remote works flawlessly. Nikon should look at this unit and go back to the drawing board. Search the grip on Youtube and you'll find my review. ... show more

  • Defective and No Support
Size: MK-D850 PRO
From day one, the remote didn't work. I emailed support for help, but got no response. I was okay with that, used it with El15 batteries. Sometimes the camera would not recognize the battery or wouldn't turn on with a battery in the grip. I thought it was a problem with third party batteries, but they worked fine in the body. I finally bought Nikon Brand EL18 batteries, and the camera won't turn on at all with them. I again emailed support and have no response. ... show more
