  • Lots of fun!
Style: For Canon EF
Focus is basically irrelevant at the 8mm focal length of this lens. I shot a couple dozen images just for fun and they all came out great. I had it on my Canon EOS 70D. Exposure must be manual, but that’s pretty straightforward if you review the shots. Play around with the ISO and shutter speed. You’ll get something you like. Got this lens mostly for the astrophotography possibilities. Haven’t had a chance to try it yet. Should be great for all-sky meteor shower pics. ... show more

  • Great fisheye for the price.
Style: For Canon EF
The media could not be loaded. I used to film skateboarding a lot with the Canon 8-15mm fisheye and the Century Xtreme even the Century mk1 with a VX1000. But I sold all my skateboarding cameras and fisheyes when I became a video producer full time. Not having as much time to film skateboarding anymore, I decided to pick up this Meike fisheye to film on my spare time and it works well. I shoot with a URSA Mini Pro G2 and a BMPCC6K Pro to give you an example of how it looks with it. ... show more

  • Good glass at a good price
Style: For Canon EF
This is my first fish eye lens so i did not know what to expect other than to have fun taking pictures. I'll admit the first few shots were interesting to me as I am used to a 50mm but I realized fast that the creative capabilities with this lens could go far. I decided to explore the macro side and took this to work on one of my trips. Most of the shots in the cockpit were at f3.5 while the landscape shots were at f22. I did like the feel of the lens. Build quality felt solid. Focus ring was smooth and I like the aperture ring as it has small clicks when adjusting. The metal housing and mounting ring completed the build quality in my opinion. Much nicer than some plastic body 50mm lenses I've used. I was happy with the overall picture quality as I felt it produced sharp images that do trail off towards the corners. However it is a fish eye and most of my images get cropped anyway. Worked well in low light, still produced clean images with ability to focus well. One thing I liked the most is that it does not produce that "tunnel vision" effect. I shot this on a Canon T6 and T5i, both crop sensor. I have not tried this lens on a tripod yet but overall it has been a fun lens to get creative with and I see using this much more than I anticipated. For under $200 I think anyone would be pleased with this lens. ... show more

  • Great lens for the price. A lot of fun.
Style: For Canon EF
Some photos with the Meike 8mm f3.5 fisheye. I did make some adjustments in Photoshop. Playing around and seeing what I could do with the lens and the effects it gave me. All in all I am impressed with the ease of use and just how sharp the lens is. These were all shot with a Canon SL1 18mp DSLR. I did not correct for lens distortion. I see having some serious fun with this lens. What one has to remember is it is a manual lens. If you're used to shooting manual you'll have zero issues and be happy with the results. If you're not a manual shooter, you will be after playing with this lens. All it will require is time and patience to see what manual mode offers. Have fun and with this lens, you can get lots of effects that you decide on. The lens is sharp and well made. It feels solid and mine feels good in the hand. Aperture and focusing are smooth and responsive. There are faint aperture clicks to let you know you are changing it but be careful, it's so smooth you can easily overshoot the your mark. But unless you are shooting moving objects, which a fisheye is really not suited for anyway, it's no problem because it's digital! Just take another shot. For the price this is a very good entry level fisheye that won't break the bank and will give you hours of fun. ... show more

  • I fell in love. I just love the artistic possibilities it adds ...
Style: For Canon EF
I originally thought that this would just be a neat, little..."cheap" lens to add to my collection. Wow....I fell in love. I just love the artistic possibilities it adds to my arsenal. :) Because it is a manual focus lens...there is a little extra work adjusting for the lighting and such. I've noticed that the focus is actually pretty sharp in the middle...but trials off a little at the edges...but not too much. I have yet to try this lens on a tripod...so it just might be my shaky hands...but I believe all fisheyes tend to have this issue to some degree. As for the build....wonderful. It's got some weight to it; definitely doesn't feel cheap at all. The lens cover it comes with is perfect...the tulip lens hood does get in the shots if it's positioned just right...but these shots usually get cropped anyway...so it's not that great an issue. I didn't even take the little lens bag out of the box...that is definitely cheap...and I don't usually use them anyway. I'll include some shots i've taken with it to show you it's potential. If you get this lens, I don't think you'll be disappointed...I know I wasn't! ... show more

  • Very impressed! Amazing for real estate, street photography and skateboard videos.
Style: For Canon EF
Wow! This lens does not disappoint. I was not sure what to expect from this lens as I have not seen many reviews. My first impression is what a nice piece of glass! The lens is quite big, and it does not feel cheap. The focus ring, the aperture ring, and the general lens feel well built. I took it out to play and the image is sharp. I love that there is no vignetting on my camera (aps-c sensor) and I am getting a very wide angle view. I also love that I can remove the lens hood (which my other fish-eye does not allow me to do). I definitely recommend this lens! I love street photography, so I will keep this lens in my bag. ... show more

  • It’s ok
Style: For Canon EF
I have two cameras. A 6D Mark II and a 40 D. It works pretty good on the 40 but not Stella. You get some not much vignette at the corners. On the full frame 6D Mark II it’s horrible It’s like taking a picture looking down a tube. If your on a budget and don’t have a full frame camera go for it. If you have a full frame then save up and spend the extra money ... show more
