  • Great manual lens for a great price
I bought this for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 to replace the original 14-42 kit zoom lens that came with the camera. The zoom was nice, sharp, and fully auto - but it was also slow (f3.5 max), long and cumbersome. I wanted smaller and faster, near ‘pancake’ style lenses, so I decided to try the two inexpensive independent manufacturer fixed length lenses available on Amazon (the other is the 25mm f1.7 7Artisans, which is still on it’s way from China). As a photographer for over 40 years, I can say it’s a nice, simple, ‘old school’ style lens - VERY solidly made of apparently machined aluminum (specs say copper core as well), and nice multi-coated glass. The focus barrel rotates very smoothly with no grind spots, and the diaphragm also opens and closes very smoothly. The focus turn is about 5” overall, which is a good standard length for manual focus lenses - it gives more precise focus than a short throw, and once you set focus the barrel stays put, with no slip or movement. The same can be said of the stop ring, which has no ‘click’ stops, but that doesn’t bother me. I assume that choice of manufacture was made either to simplify build, keep costs down, or for ease of use as a video lens to be able to smoothly change exposure during shooting. Either way, I don’t view it as a problem, although you need to take care not to shift your f/stop accidentally - you actually need to pay attention to what you’re doing! From the brief testing I’ve done, the glass is decently sharp with nice color saturation and contrast. For use with M4/3 cameras, it gives very good results for the price. For photographers who don’t mind doing the work (instead of leaving everything to the camera on AUTO), and for that ‘lomography’ camera vibe while keeping the convenience of digital, I think it’s a terrific buy. ... show more

  • Beautiful lens for my camera
This was a great lens for the price that it charges. I have a cinema level camera, and I needed a lens. This lens was recommended to me by a director friend. It is a super lightweight lens with very great focus and a great aperture for low light settings. I do a lot of one-person directing/shooting, so this lens' makes my life easier when needing to adjust something quickly focus wise or aperture wise. ... show more

  • Decent little lens.
For the price it’s a great lens. It’s sharp enough, and produces great bokeh. My distance ring seems to twist all over the place, but it’s not annoying enough to warrant a return. Focus ring is smooth and heavy. Remember there are no autofocus or electronic aperture control.

  • f1.7 Max prime MANUAL lens
This 35mm lens is great for short range indoors shots because of the wide possible aperture. It also is fine on longer shots outdoors, but unless you know how to manage the manual focus easily, it doesn't work so well for action shots. I bought it and its brother, the 50mm lens from mike for less than $200 for both so I can practice with manual focus lens. My only disappointment is that my Panasonic camera does not report the aperture because (I guesss) it isn't a Panasonic lens. From my perspective, it takes fine photos; I have no issues with focusing the lens and the focus stays where I put it. ... show more

  • Great Cheap Manual Lens for my BMPCC & GH4/5
Bought this two years ago. I had fun with it on a few person projects and the results were great for the price point. The lens is light, portable with decent sharpness!

  • Awesome for the price! My first prime lens
A lot better than I thought it was gonna be! I bought this for my Lumix g7 and I couldn't be happier. I found out after buying this that the cropping factor on a MF3 camera turn this 35mm into more of a 65mm but still to get a prime lens for under 150$ is pretty FA! The only recommendation I would get some one is to maybe consider the 25mm version of this lens instead. Mostly because then (if you also have a MF3) the cropping factor would make this a 55mm which is way more handy to use when your shooting. Overall, I love it. ... show more

  • All manual, all metal, perfect for filmmakers!!!!
There is not a better lens at this price point that I have seen. Period. This is a fantastic cinema style lens. Manual aperture, manual focus with a rotation range of over 180%, and a sturdy metal build (even the lens cap is metal... an unnecessary but nice touch). The motion is smooth, and there are hard stops for the focus ring. BIG PLUS. No clicks on the aperture. The lens is small and relatively lightweight. Also, a neat bonus that I appreciate, the focus ring and aperture ring have very distinctive patterns of texture so it is quite easy to tell the difference by touch alone. Couldn't recommend this lens any more! ... show more

  • Great little manual lens
Purchased this for my Olympus Pen F and OMD EM1X, apparently I got a good lens, Images are sharp, great contrast and color. The only two things I don’t personally like is the lens cap and the non click aperture ring. The lens seems to be built as good as my old Oly OM Manual lenses. Can’t beat the price, great walk around lens. 👍 ... show more
