I'm really sorry I needed one but this chair helped me get around before my total hip replacement. It's heavier than a transport chair but the larger back wheels make it easier to push and more comfortable for the person seated. It was easy to assemble and folds/unfolds with ease.     • Foot rests came assembled backwards

This seems like a really nice chair for the price. We purchased this for my mom who recently broke her leg. She is able to walk short distances but we wanted her to be able to enjoy her vacation and come out to shops and museums. Very easy to assemble, easy to fold and move around. Remember this chair cannot be self propelled, I like to say it’s more like a stroller lol but very sturdy. My only issue was the foot rests came pre assembled and they were backwards. We spent over 25 minutes trying to figure out which way they went, the photos in the instruction booklet are not very clear. Finally looked at a video online and saw they were backwards. We took two screws out and flipped them around. So just FYI if that happens to you. Otherwise, great product for the situation. As others have said, there is basically no cushion to the seat. This is not a chair the person would comfortably sit in for an extended period of time. ... show more

I purchased this to take my mother on a long “walk” in a town with lots of cobblestones sidewalks. She can walk but has limited mobility and gets tired quickly. This was perfect for my purposes, light weight, compact, folds to fit comfortably in the trunk of my ford escape. The tires are on the larger side which is great for uneven sidewalks. I purchased cushions to make it more comfortable. My mother weights 130 and is about 5’1”… this chair allowed us to go all day long around the town and it was so easy. Perfect day! ... show more

I purchased this wheelchair for my mother, and unfortunately, I didn't try to use it for her until after the first month of purchase so I couldn't return it to Amazon. There is a major flaw with the design. When I tried to pull the chair backward, the front wheels kept turning and getting stuck in a perpendicular position that makes it difficult to move in reverse. I tried numerous times, and it kept doing the same. I don't recommend this wheelchair, and want to let people know not to waste their money.. ... show more

It's exactly what I'd expect from a Medline brand! We are loyal customers. Weight: it will take a healthy adult to fold and lift it into your car trunk or SUV. Maneuverability: It's about what one would expect for a wider chair. It doesn't take too long to learn how to avoid bumping into things with the footrests. FAVORITE FEATURE: I love that the footrests can be LOCKED INTO PLACE when putting it away (rather than swinging freely, and rather than needing to be removed completely) this is a great feature that makes stowage much easier. --- My ONLY COMPLAINT is that the assembly did not go as smoothly a previous Medline transportation chair. For this chair, the footrests had been inserted into the wrong swing-out side fixture. The swing out fixture will only fit ONE way, and when attached properly, the fold-down footrests were aimed OUTWARD. (Oops!) Fortunately, the fix was easy, and I could remove each footrest and re-insert it into the correct swing-out fixture. Problem solved. ... show more

    • An okay chair, does not feel durable

The person we got this for weighs around 270, so below the 300 claimed weight limit by about 10%, but it feels like this is putting a lot of strain on this chair. It creaks and flexes more than it should, and due to the offset of the front wheels beneath the spindles they need to rotate 180 degrees when you swap from pushing to pulling the chair, and they DO NOT do so easily even on hard floors, and very difficult on even short nap carpet. I just don't feel like the front wheel assemblies are going to hold up well. Perhaps if the very skinny front tires were wider so that they didn't bite into carpet, or if the spindle (the leg of the chair, essentially) was centered over the wheel hub it would work better, but they is going to fail, I think. As several people have mentioned, the skinny plastic front wheels, despite being 8" diameter, do not ride over even small obstacles such as low door thresholds, much less anything even 1/2" high. To get over anything you almost always have to pull the chair backward rather than push it, which is not always easy or convenient. You'll need to be careful approaching any low bump or threshold, or you might easily bend or break the front wheel assembly. Beyond that, I guess it's fairly comfortable, although the seat is just barely wide enough for our user, and the brakes do hold well. It folds easily and, while not a featherweight, it's not terribly heavy like a standard wheelchair. If I could buy sturdier front wheel assemblies for this, perhaps with wider tires and less offset on the hub center, it could be a much improved unit. Think twice if you need this for anyone approaching 250 lbs or over! ... show more
