Description

"The genius in this cookbook lies in its approachability. It’s rare to find cookbooks where every single recipe feels like something you could integrate into your weeknight rotation. Prakash’s recipes are both straightforward and novel; she’s great at taking ingredients you likely have on hand and showing you something new to do with them." --Bon Appétit Cook your way through 75+ simple yet tantalizing Mediterranean recipes that make the most of what’s in season. Mediterranean Every Day embraces a style of cooking that celebrates flavor with a relaxed, flexible attitude. It’s simple enough for a quick family meal, but never out of place for a weekend gathering with friends. Alongside stunning photography, discover easy crowd-pleasers like Herby Ricotta; weeknight meals like One-Pan Sausage, Pepper, and Onion Bake; and desserts like Roasted Figs with Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt. Beyond the recipes, this is a book that teaches how to build a wholesome, well-stocked pantry. Start off with an introduction to the Mediterranean style of cooking and then choose your own adventure: Three-Ingredient (or Fewer) Snacks and Cocktails: Whether it’s a pre-dinner snack you crave or a simple cocktail to shake up for friends, you’ll find easy and fun ideas like Smoky White Bean Hummus, Za’atar Pistachios, and Honeyed Prosecco. Salads and Soups: Enjoy creative salads like The Easiest Arugula Salad, Smoked Salmon Greek Salad, Peak-Summer Panzanella, and a must-try Niçoise. Hearty soups include Lemon Parmesan Soup with Beans and Greens and Roasted Greek Tomato Soup. Beans, Grains, and Bready Things: This non-traditional chapter features a variety of main dish–worthy recipes that can also be served as sides. Celebrate the seasons with a Spicy Broccoli Rabe and Chickpea Skillet, Lentil Fritters with Herbed Yogurt Dip, a Cheesy Brussels Sprout and Farro Bake, and risotto ideas for winter, spring, summer, and fall. Colorful Pastas: Who doesn’t love a diet that lets you eat pasta? Enjoy feel-good pastas that are heavy on vegetables. Recipes include Brown Butter Tortellini with Spinach and Hazelnuts, Melted Broccoli Pasta with Capers and Anchovies, Pasta with Burst Cherry Tomatoes and Swordfish, Israeli Couscous Salad with Herbs, Green Olives and Pistachios, and a No-Cook Summer Tomato Pasta. I would give it 10 stars if only I could! This is by far the BEST Mediterranean cookbook I have ever come across, and I have been through a few... First off the layout is absolutely beautiful with no skimping on illustrations and introductions. Secondly, these recipes are mostly EASY to make and you do not have to be a seasoned cook to make them. Finally, the introduction to each recipe gives you all the motivation you need to pick up this healthy, tasty lifestyle. The recipes call for whole and clean foods, no seed oils and the like as I have encountered in many other Mediterranean cookbooks. I am a food lover, and have been cooking and baking for most of my 54 year old life. A big shoutout to Sheela Prakash for creating this beautiful book! ... show more

  • Thoughtful, Personable, and Highly Cookable
Format: Hardcover
Mediterranean Every Day is the antidote to our current times: easy, unfussy recipes that don't require a ton of effort and yield delicious, satisfying results. I've already made a handful of recipes (the vinaigrette, the roasted chicken, the cucumber/tahini soup, the Niçoise salad) and each has been more delicious than the last. I feel deeply appreciative that the recipes can be appropriate for a harried mid-week get-food-on-the-table meal, to a luxuriating and lingering weekend dinner. My favorite part of the book is the personable tone of the author. I feel that the intro to each chapter and the headnotes above each recipe have made me feel like I know Sheela (and her husband, Joe!). From their love story of scallops, to inspiration she found while living in Italy, the entire book feels like you're chatting with a friend while she shares her pro cooking tips. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone seeking fresh, light, and inspired (but not difficult) meals. The recipes feel thoroughly tested, the photography is gorgeous, and all aspects of the book feel very thoughtful. I can't wait to see more from this author! ... show more

  • Great cookbook, slightly liberal on diet
Format: Hardcover
This is a great cookbook. Recipes are great and not too complicated or time consuming. It is a slightly liberal interpretation of the Mediterranean diet, so if you want something strict you will need to substitute and adjust many recipes. But everything I have tried so far has been terrific.

  • Delicious, Easy recipes
Format: Hardcover
I have always loved mediterranean food so when I saw this in a magazine I IMMEDIATELY purchased it. In the past 2 weeks I've made so many of the recipes from this book and every single one has turned out perfectly and exactly as the photo shows. My family (husband and toddler son) have also devoured everything. I keep recommending this book to everyone because it is so so great. Not to mention the fact that the book itself is beautiful. The recommendations at the beginning for stocking your pantry are really helpful. My only critique is that while the serving size is listed for each recipe, I'd find it helpful if the total cooking time was also included. Not a big deal as I just read the recipe through and add up the steps in my head, but that small piece of information would be really helpful in my opinion. ... show more

  • What everyone's looking for in a cookbook❣️
Format: Hardcover
Love color pictures of food. Shows in many pictures the type of pan etc. she cooked it in. She writes about variations or add ons in a dish. Simply doable, healthy, delicious. I didn't notice until I received the cookbook, but I looked at the author's name and realized I have another of her cookbooks. I really like her for sure. She encompasses what my friends and sister in law like in a cookbook e.g. Pics, straightforward directions, Healthy ingredients and not an overload of ingredients (that's a biggie) In the back of the book she gives a list of her favorite brands like pasta etc. and she tells why. I'm very happy with her cookbook ... show more

  • Delicious, quick weekday recipes!
Format: Hardcover
This is a fabulous cookbook- great recipes that are really fun and easy to cook with lots of great Mediterranean flavors. The photographs are gorgeous and mouthwatering too. So far, I’ve cooked the yogurt fettuccine (this one was awesome- healthy but tasted so rich!), the tomato soup- so yummy, the orzo skillet with shrimp and feta (so yummy and such an unexpectedly delicious combination of flavors), the salmon in crazy water- so incredible. I loved how easy to follow and quick to cook all the recipes were, as well as how I didn’t have to hunt for things at the grocery store, yet they tasted like I had spent hours in the kitchen! Both recipes were perfect for a weeknight meal and truly live up to the name Mediterranean Everyday. I will definitely be adding them to my rotations and I look forward to cooking and trying more!! ... show more
