I can't believe I've waited this long to get a meat grinder. I love that I can turn any meat into ground meat and use it in tacos, make hamburgers, or meatballs. My wife even commented that the hamburgers I made tasted much fresher than the burgers we usually eat. You can even make sausage if you wanted. I haven't tried the sausage accessories but it's good to have them if I ever want to use them. The grinder is super easy to put together and install on the KitchenAid mixer. It even comes with a spare screw to hold the grinder in place on the mixer, in case you lost your old screw. I still have mine, but I'm sure lots of people have lost theirs, so that's a great idea. All parts are metal, I believe, and feel very durable. The grinder works great though. It's not loud and it works at all speeds. You get several types of plates and blades, for whatever you want to make. There are several warnings in various places that these parts are not dishwasher safe, so the manufacturer seems pretty serious about that. It's because this is made of aluminum, which can get ruined in a dishwasher. This is the biggest drawback, which I knew before ordering it, but I just think it's worth mentioning. It's a bummer, especially when grinding pork or chicken because I want it to be super clean after grinding up meats like that. I've learned some tips about grinding too. Chilling the meat in the freezer for about 30 minutes before grinding will make it run through the grinder better. If it's too warm, the fats can gunk up. You can also chill the grinder. And to get the last of the meat out of the grinder, a chef from Epicurious recommends ice because it won't add anything you don't want to the meat and it can give it more moisture. I've also read that you can use vegetables or bread.

Have wanted a grinder attachment for so long but wasn't willing to pay the OEM price. This item is priced in a much more competitive range IMO. I like the metal parts and sturdy feeling it gives when assembled. Fits my KitchenAid mixer like a glove. Making my own meats is a reality and never easier. Hamburger was a blast and better tasting than anything I ever bought at a store. Next is going to be sausage when I get the time and materials. Quick setup and easy cleanup. If you are in the market for a meat grinder attachment, this is definitely one to consider at the top of your list. It's well built and should last a long time if used and cared for correctly.

Overall I'm very impressed with this grinder for the price, the name brand version is plastic which I'm not a fan of for this application. Overall it is fairly easy to clean and does the job well, it hooks up to my kitchen aid blender very easily, if you would have told me this was an official accessory I would have believed you!

This is a great add-on for your Kitchen-Aid Stand Mixer. It is not meant for huge projects (processing an entire deer, for example) but it could probably even do that. It has 4 grinding plates, 4 blades (2 of one type, and 1 each of the other 3), 3 different sized sausage makers (tubes), and everything to connect and grind in various sizes. It connects just fine to our mixer.

I've had no issues using or cleaning this. it works perfectly with my kitchenaide and grinds stuff up. Honestly for the price point I expected mid-level quality... but the only thing I feel is lacking is the plunger, and my husband disagrees with me on that.

Easily attaches to my KitchenAid stand mixer. No problems grinding meat for hamburgers. The diameter of the grinder blades and plates is a bit on the small side, but with the mixer set at speed 4, it grinds pretty quickly. I haven't tried the sausage stuffing attachments yet, but it looks easy to set up. Easy to clean - even comes with a cleaning brush. Most of the parts except the blades and plates are made from lightweight aluminum. I'm a bit concerned how well it will hold up over time.

Has all the necessary attachments, and more, that I need. Expands my use for the expensive mixer I bought, which is a good thing.

This is very sturdy and fits the KitchenAid mixer perfectly. It comes with many attachments so you can have the grind you want. The most common grind size comes already assembled, so you don't have to wonder how it works. The instructions are pretty clear and feature photography so you can follow along with assembly. It does say on the page and on the book to handwash.
