From a respiratory therapists' perspective: Good value for the money. Sound quality is at least x4 better from the yellow disposable scopes in the stock room. I would compare it to a littman II lightweight that I lost during a shift. Yes the littman II lightweight might feel more robust, but the black on black on this scope looks sleek. The only downside i've found is that the earpieces need to be in a good position to get great sound, once you get that all set there hasn't been any issues at all listening to my patients. The biggest plus of this scope is that it is extremely lightweight to the point where I almost forget I have it hanging on my neck! I have a litman III classic that is absolutely amazing at listening no matter what position the earpieces are in, but it's just too heavy to wear around my neck through a whole 12 hour shift. I bought this stethoscope because I needed something quick and with Christmas around the corner funds were pretty tight. Im already a fan of MDF, so I decided to give it a try. While I am not a medical specialist, I did have use for a stethoscope. We share a well with two other families. This being one of the worst drought years in history, we have experienced our well drying up several times over the past few years. This means we have to purchase water when there is not enough rain to fill the well to it's normal level. That gets expensive. We can hike up to the large tanks,(gravity fed) and "listen" for the water level with a stethoscope. It works, and saves us buying water till we really need it. Not your every day use for a stethoscope, but one we find very necessary. As a side note, we split the water purchase price three ways which comes out to about $280, about every three to four weeks. Each family pays about $94. California MUST build more reservoirs. Forget the bullet train JB, we need water. I know this isn't a typical revue for medical equipment, but just a glimpse into how some of us Californians get along during the drought. No state or federal funding for many not us. Got it to take home manual blood pressure readings, and it does the job. If you're a medical student professional, this probably isn't the one you want, but you could probably get by with it to a point with it as the sound quality isn't terrible. But it's meh. If you can afford better, get better. Not super comfortable to have in the ears, but as said above the sound quality isn't terrible. It does get the job done, but there are better options out there. ... show more
