I was in a car accident on Christmas Eve that broke 3 ribs that are slightly displaced. They don't do anything for broken ribs but send you home with pain meds and directions to be careful. I have found I can't sleep in a bed or our motorized reclining couch without pain, not to mention trying to stand up, I had to keep waking my husband up to help me up. Nights were horrid. So after trying everything else I could think of, I went hunting for a lift chair and after lots of research ordered this one. I wanted lift, dual motor, lay flat, heat and massage were a bonus. I also wanted an adjustable head rest because alot of recliners push my head forward causing neck aches. After sorting through lots of options I found this one, I am 5'6, about 260 lbs. It was ordered Friday and arrived Monday in 2 boxes. One box is very heavy and will require a hand truck or you can open it and carry pieces separate. Very easy to get into desired location because of the separate pieces. My husband assembled in around 45 minutes. First, the head piece does not push my head forward but a small pillow is helpful. The padding is FIRM. I like that but some might not. My bruised up back needed a pillow back there. The heat and massage are nice, the heat is very comforting to my bruised up back. My favorite thing and excellent for someone with broken ribs or post surgery? When you hit the button for the foot rest it sort of lifts up the chair and leans the whole thing slightly back while keeping your body stationary (except raising your feet) So there is no pain from the recline (why our electric recline couch was a problem, it felt like it was pulling on my ribs) I think they call that tv mode but I find it very comfortable to sleep. From there you can recline the back as you wish or not. Then when you want to get up the home button returns everything upright and you can use the lift to boost you up. I wish I had this chair from the get go, it would have saved me alot of pain. Very well designed for someone needing help with mobility or recovery. ... show more

Perfect chair to help get up after shoulder injury. Heat and massage are a plus. Modular construction makes it very easy to move and assemble. Rental quote was $200 a month. No brainer as I will continue to use after I get all healed up.

Purchased it in August and it is now January. The controller no longer works. After troubleshooting with customer service they sent a new controller ( That was dinged and scratched out of the envelope ). After more troubleshooting the customer service rep let it slip that this unit will break down if it loses power suddenly... so make sure you have this hooked up through a surge protector, but according to customer service the remote control can still be damaged from sudden power lose. It's overpriced and cheaply made compared to what actual healthcare providers will surely overcharge you for. So, if your loved one has months to live, consider this product. My wife bought this chair for her Dad whom is in home hospice care. He can barely get around on a walker and has and has an extremely difficult time trying to stand. The chair came in three boxes and was easy to assemble with the help of my wife. (The base is heavy). What amazed me was the thorough and clear instruction book included (had to be done by an American). All of the lift and massage features work perfectly and he loves it.
