This seat is made of wood which means it's heavier than a similar looking plastic seat. It's super easy to install with a standard American 5/8s socket and a socket wrench. If you don't have this basic and common tool found in most American homes, but a set here or ask your dad to borrow his. Anyone without tools should not be looking to DIY. The plastic nuts snap off when you tighten them down to prevent you from over-tightening the bolts which can strip them or crack your toilet. This also ensures the bolts won't loosen over time so the seat will never wobble in months and years of use. Don't worry, the plastic stems also have a nut-style shape to them if you ever want to replace the seat again in the future. If you only want to remove the seat, just open the rear hinge covers and slide it out. Super easy for cleaning or replacing without needing any tools in the future! Great design. Great value. I had to replace my 20 YO toilet seat because it had been cleaned past the enamel and was becoming discolored. The hinge to toilet attachment had become loose in spite of frequent adjustments. I cruised though all the various toilet seats on Amazon. Most were thin plastic or similar material. Complaints were mostly about quality, stability, and durability. This one was more expensive, but I didn't like the reviews of the others I considered buying. I was elated when I received my order. The lid and seat are heavy. The enamel-like finish is beautiful and looks very durable. Installation was a breeze. The seat can easily be released for cleaning, simply by opening the hing caps and pulling the seat forward. This makes cleaning around the hing posts super easy; a problem with some other anchoring mechanisms. The slow-close feature is great. Helping it close doesn't damage the closing device as far as I can tell. My first instinct is to 'help' it close, by habit. But why? It's not too slow. I'm learning just to let it do its thing. This is an excellent product and I highly recommend it! ... show more

Super sturdy and comfortable, excellent fit and function. Very easy to install for a 75 year old woman. I replaced two using a socket wrench. Plastic attachments made to prevent over tightening. Positives: Easy to install and fit the toilet well. I loved the slow-close feature of the hinge because I have 2 kids. The seat is sturdy and doesn't shift while using it. Negatives: after about a year, the slow-close feature just stopped working on one of them (in the bathroom we use the most). It just slams shut now. The seat in the lesser used bathroom is still in perfect shape, but a year of two young humans and two larger humans using the main bathroom has worn it down. For the price, I feel that it handled our rear ends well, though I wish it lasted longer. ... show more

A friend of mine showed me the difference between plastic and wooden toilet seats over 20 years ago. There’s a huge difference! Our family much prefers the wooden seats for the quality. I will never go back to plastic again. Too cheap and too flimsy. We have been buying this particular brand for years. I made a huge mistake by buying another one from our local hardware store. It was so basic and it did not have the slow drop lid which we were used to. So it was getting slammed down if we did not hang onto the lid as we put the lid down on the seat. Very loud slamming noise. It’s the little things sometimes!! We replaced it with one of these from Amazon as soon as we could. There’s just no comparison. I buy these and change them out every few years because the white paint eventually does wear off or wear down in specific areas, over the years. But the construction stays intact really well. One thing I never noticed before until I bought the crappy one from the hardware store is these seats from Amazon have a very nice sort of chiseled edge and I’m just appreciating this product so much more after having the other competitor. Easy to install and fit perfectly. Nice appearance which is enhanced by quality materials and sturdy construction. Slow close works smoothly after a few uses. Innovative attachment method prevents over or under torquing screws, and the flip latches for easy removal during cleaning are a plus.

For 7 years we have had a cheap plastic seat that would have to be tightened every week or so. Closing it was always a noise. This seat is so solid and I love that I can remove it to clean the nooks behind it. The soft close is a great feature also. It also has a feature at installation to move it forward or back to have it fit the bowl perfectly. Buy it, you won’t be disappointed.
